Welcome, weary holiday traveler. You have reached the Holiday section of the my realm. I have put Christmas as my title because that is what I celebrate. It is not to offend anyone, just merely showing that I celebrate Christmas as opposed to other holidays that occur in December.
I bid you welcome. This section of my realm will grow as Christmas approaches. For now it is very small, consisting of just this one page. I hope it may be as large as twenty pages, but then I may be setting my hopes a bit too high. I cannot assume that I will be able to find enough content, or have that much content sent to me, before that time. Then again, it may happen. Christmas is said to be the time of miracles, yes? We will have to see.
As of this day of our Lord, the twenty-third of December, in the year one thousand nine hundred ninety-nine, this portion of my realm contains twenty-five pages.
I thought, perhaps, I might ask you, weary traveler, to help me with filling up this section of my realm. Perhaps you know a good poem that would go well here. Perhaps you know someone else that has a good poem that may fit well in my realm. What am I getting at, you ask? Here it is, in all it's glory . . .
Yes, as you may have guessed, there is a poetry contest running here. I, the Ice Rose, am a Victoria Park Neighborhood Guide. I thought this might be a nice break from all the stress of late. I ran the idea past a few people and found the idea to be good. So here I am, presenting it to you, weary traveler. Please read the rules before continuing to the submitting instructions. Thank you for your interest. I appreciate it greatly.
Please stop by and see the original portion of my realm. There are many things there to pass the time. And for those of you still in the Halloween mode, there is my Halloween portion as well. Please do sign my guestbook while there. I love getting feedback. Again, thank you.
Rules for the Contest
The poetry must be Christmas in nature. It must concern some aspect of Christmas, at least set around Christmas time. And when I say Christmas, I mean the holiday time. If you celebrate some other holiday, feel free to write about that one instead. Christmas is what I celebrate, so that is the word I will use.
Please submit a valid email address with the poem. I will be sending a reply that I got the poem. If the mail is bounced back, I may delete the poem from consideration. I understand that sometimes mail servers are a pain, but if it is bounced back multiple days in a row, I will have to assume the email address given was fake.
Any poetry submitted must be written by the submitter. If it is not your poem, please submit the poet's name and email address so that I may contact him or her should that poem win.
You may submit up to three poems to this contest. Any over that will not be considered. Only the first three that I receive. The panel does not consist of superheros, everyone. They have stuff they must do away from their computers. This is for their sanity and, therefore, mine. Thanks.
There will be a panel of three judges: Luciana - Victoria Park Minister, Heidi - Victoria Park Neighborhood Guide, and Andrea - Victoria Park Neighborhood Guide. I will be administering the contest, doing the gruntwork, basically. I thank these three lovely souls for volunteering their time.
Have fun with this. It's meant to be a joy. Do not stress.
The contest starts on November first and will run until December elventh at midnight est. That's what I'm on, so that's the time zone I'll be using. Judging will start upon the twelfth of December and hopefully be done shortly thereafter.
Winner, or winners, will receive a special graphic to display at their own realm. It shall be personalized by me, the Ice Rose. Without such personalization, the award is invalid. A sample shall be posted below.
All participants will have their poetry posted here, in this section of my realm. They will be posted throughout the month of December.
Please address any comments or questions to me. The judges, Andrea, Luciana, and Heidi, are merely that. I am the one heading this contest and therefore have all the answers. Please send me an email if you need something. The Ice Rose
The winner of this contest shall receive the below, personalized graphic. Please do not steal it. It is copyrighted by the Ice Rose, one of the few things she has actually created on her own. It was made expressly to reward the talented person (or people! It could happen!) that wins the contest.
Visit the poets who have submitted to the contest. They are quite a talented group. I thank them with all of my heart.
Thank you, lovely poets, thank you. List of the Christmas Poets
The results are in! The judges have picked not one, but three winners. I am happy to say that the poet was rewarded not just the poem. So, without further ado . . .
First Place - Aaron
Second Place - Ebby
Third Place - Steven
Thank you all for participating. I'm considering a Valentine's Poetry Contest. I hope to see everyone there!
