I don't claim to be any good at it but I have a pretty strong interest in music. I own a new Stratocaster, an old synth and a violin that I sort of made myself. And one day when I have $300 to spare I want to get a Theremin.
The guitar is the only instrument that I've had any lessons for. I make noise with it on a daily basis that sounds something like heavy metal. It has sort of a Rush sound but that's mostly because I've been playing in the classical scales. I never really got in a band so my guitar sits at the side of the couch and keeps me company when I watch TV. I mostly run scales and play one endless solo that sounds the same. Every now and then I come up with a little tune that I find fun to play.
The synth is an old Roland that my brother found for me. It has some cool sounds and I tinker with it now and then but it stays mostly under my bed because of lack of room. One day I'll get a keyboard stand and it'll get more use.
The violin stick. This is a creation of my own. I saw a stick violin in a catalog once and lusted after it. I pictured myself the mad violinist playing romantic melodies on moonlit nights. The thing was exspensive though and I just wanted something to play a few notes on when it suited me. I bought the neck and the hardware and did a little wood work to make the body. It still plays louder then I thought it would but it's not as painful to listen to as a regular violin. I'm not very good but I may be one day and if not who cares?
