Filipino students at the Massey University concourse

It seems that among the first things anybody does upon reaching a new place is check out the sights. The new Filipino students at Massey University in 1992 were not any different.

Here, they can be seen posing for a picture at the middle of the Palmerston North city square.

The Palmerston North City Council welcomed its international visitors, which included us foreign students. A welcome ceremony was held at the City Centre, where we got to know other foreign students and residents in Palmerston North.

With new friends, Diego from Colombia and Chris from Zambia

Among the other foreign students (also at Massey University) that I met were Diego, from Colombia, and Chris, from Zambia. Julius (extreme left), Mon (extreme right), and myself are seen having our picture taken together with our new friends.

Where people from different cultures meet, it is customary for them to share their culture and arts. Students at Massey University did just that at the start of the academic year.

For this purpose, the Filipino students presented three numbers - two dances and a song. Guess who was the lead singer?
