Touring New Zealand

Touching natural ice for the first time.

I've always thought that snow (and ice) feels cold. Not until I got to experience it first hand.

I realized that the coldest time is before snow falls, for when it is falling, you don't feel as cold.

Even ice covering a mountain doesn't feel cold (nor hot). See me touching it in the South Island.

Queenstown is the tourist center of New Zealand. Street names are written in English and Niponggo, the latter maybe a way of making the Japanese, the largest group of tourists, feel at home when they are in Queenstown.

Bungy jumping in Queenstown

But perhaps what Queenstown is noted for is bungy jumping, a sport that makes one feel afraid and exhilarated at the same time. Your feet are tied with a rope and you jump from a bridge. Just as you think you are going to hit water (and possibly, freeze to death), the rope jerks you back and swings you.

What a feeling!

When they said that New Zealand was the most beautiful country in the world, they must have been thinking of the Remarkables, a snow-covered mountain range. The mountains look so ruggedly handsome with their snow tops. Add to that the cool surrounding, which makes you think you are closest to Mother Nature, and you have a picture-perfect postcard.

The Remarkables as a backdrop.
