Touring New Zealand

The mountain and the sea.

The North Island has its share of the beauty that New Zealand offers the tourist.

This is one of them -- in the Northland region.

Nature is very active in New Zealand. This is particularly felt in Waitomo, where stalactites abound in its caves. In addition, there are thousands (probably millions) of glowworms that never cease to fascinate the nature lover.

Much as I wanted to have a picture with these glowworms, I couldn't do so. Glowworms lose their glow when there is light, noise and dryness. That is why we even had to ride a rowboat in perfect silence in the dark, just to see them in their grandeur.

Dressing up in a suit. Reading a paperback
I had no problem with the temperate climate of New Zealand In fact, I was telling friends that between cold and hot, I'd go for cold anytime. After all, one can get oneself warm in a cold climate. But when it's hot, no matter what you do (take off your clothes, for instance), it will still be hot.

Perhaps the best thing that a temperate climate offers is the opportunity to dress up. For someone who perspires a lot (like myself), the New Zealand clime suited me to a T.
