Faceting Links
When I became interested in faceting I asked a lot of questions and received a lot of advice and help. I would like to think I have made a lot of wonderful friends over the time I have been Faceting. I deal with a lot of these people on a regular basis, and without exception it is always a pleasure
One thing to note is that I am very picky on the type of business I deal with. Some of my favorite people might refer to me as a royal pain in the arse, but they pat me on the head and tell me, "It's ok, we were all there once.". Every vendor here I have done business with and still do on a regular basis. These people are top notch and have a lot of knowledge in the Lapidary field.
Facet Rough, Cut Gemstones, Online Designs, Faceting Design Books, Faceting Help
Jeff Graham is the person that I buy all of my rough gemstones from. This is very high quality rough. You will not hear terms on his site like "semi-facet" or "facet/cab grade". I have yet to work with a piece of his rough that is not better than described. His advice is priceless, and so are a lot of his gemstones! I learned the hard way, if you buy rough at pennies per carat, that is what you are going to get is rough that's worth pennies. When you want to cut, cut something worth cutting - go see Jeff.
Faceting Machines, Repairs, Very knowledgable about the Prismatic machines
There once was a man named Doug Hoffman who made a great contribution to the faceting industry with advancements in Faceting machine design and custom designs such as his Poly-Metric Inc. Optical Magnifed Facet Machine. He was the founder of Prismatic Instruments, inc. but later sold the company. He continued to get ideas about faceting machine designs though and with two partners he formed Poly-Metric in 1990, which is now operated by his son, Zane. Zane has been absolutely wonderful and patient with me. I have that old Prismatic SElectra-matic which was built by Doug and there have been many an adjustment made with Zane's helpful instructions. And he has a bunch of old Prismatic information on his site too so check it out!
Faceting Tumbling and Cabbing Rough Supplies and
Equipment
I have had the pleasure of doing business with Jeanne and Bob Ridolfi a number of times for all sorts of stuff. I also have had the pleasure of begging advice from them a few times. I buy all of my laps, polishes, saw blades, and supplies from them. They are wonderfully helpful and their website has a terriffic online catalog.
