I started animating on the Amiga/Video Toaster back in 1992. Lightwave 3D is a spin-off of that hardware/software package from NewTek. Although I still have three Amiga Toasters, they are not used for 3D animation. PCs are much faster in rendering the animations. I'm currently on my third generation of DDR (Digital Disc Recorder) The first being the PAR (Personal Animation Recorder - Amiga), the second being a DPS Perception and the third is the FAST DV Master. I have, and use all of these (Each having a useful feature set.) The DV Master is a full NLE system (basic DDRs are video only, no sound.) All of the animations I do use objects and texture images created from scratch. The only exception would be something like the Delerium II animations which use images from the artist Alex Grey.

My most recent work can be found at my ARARAT Productions web site. This includes Quicktime animations of my 3D models.

My first 3D project was to model and animate the spacecraft from the cover of the first album by the Galactic Cowboys.

Here is a still from the early Amiga animation.

More advanced views of the GC Spacecraft can be seen at the ARARAT Productions site.

If you are interested in learning about 3D animation, I periodically teach an introductory class at:
