I contacted one of the owners of a Denny's site to find out whether he would be willing to support our cause against discrimination at Denny's, here's what he said in his e-mail. I'll be contacting more Denny's fan sites to inform them of what's going on. Please contact these site administrators and support the Denny's boycott.
"Yes, I have heard about this incident many times. It is an unfortunate one, but theres not much I can do about it."

I am not offended personally, I would never be offended with a dialogue. I'm against Denny's showing discrimination and how it seems like they are continually having problems with their treatment of minorities. They already got in trouble, yet look what happened here? I am further madded by the fact that the policemen did nothing. The police (with the exception of the riots) wouldn't stand idly by while people are being beaten, they'd break it up, right? The security guards were OFF-DUTY policemen, and just because they aren't on duty at that time, does it mean that they should watch people get beat up as that?
Maybe you hadn't felt that kind of discrimination, but it's important to know what's going in the rest of the world because ALL Asian Americans are suffering from a political and media backlash against us because of our skin color. Hate crimes aren't tracked very well regarding Asian Americans but it sure does go on (and I think that the media has to a lot with this reason). That's one of the purposes for my homepage so that the word does get out.
Just out of curiosity, are you trying to say that youre against all the Dennys restaurants or are you just against that particular Dennys that showed discrimination against some of the Asian Americans from Syracuse University? Im not trying to defend them, but I dont think that every Dennys mistreats their customers like that. That is, I never encountered one before. Maybe the people who works at that particular Dennys are against asians.
Also, are you blaming Dennys because the policemen who witnessed the fighting didnt try to stop the fight? If your are, I dont think thats right. You should blame the policemen. They were the one who should reenforce such incident not Dennys.
I hope you didnt mind my inputs. Sorry if I offended you in anyway.

I am a Pacific Island Asian. Hawaii born. I have lived on the west coast and have experienced your situation in different circumstances. Perhaps people on the east coast are threaten by Asians and have backwards attitute. I travel to New York on many occasion for business and it is a tough city. Everyone is to himself. Being raised in Hawaii has taught me values that I carry with me all my life....smile even if it hurts and walk away a prouder man.

Hey, I came across you page while looking up asian pages and I had a Denny's incident in Sherman, TX. I don't live there, but I go to school there. I went to Denny's with 2 hispanics, 2 asians counting me, 1 african american, and 3 whites. The waitress there didn't give us a menu, water, or anything. She left us just sitting there for 20 minutes and didn't say anything. While we were talking when we were in Denny's, the waitress bitched us out about being too loud, and some redneck hick started laughing after she said that, and he told us to be quiet too. We weren't loud at all. Well, after the 20 minutes, we left, and we haven't gone to a Denny's ever since.

Are you saying that every Dennys discriminates? The corporation, the employees, the customers? Maybe the hostess was. Maybe the cops were. Does that mean Denny's is responsible because some people are racist? If an individual discriminates than that individual should be held accountable. Denny's employee's have to go to an eight hour class on discrimination. They have to sign contracts stating they won't discriminate. If any employee says something discriminatory to another employee they are terminated. If someone is hired by Denny's and they later find out that the person discriminates they are terminated. Do you think Denny's intentionally hires racist? They put a lot of money into educating employees so they wont be sued again. Why would they look for trouble? I am sorry to say racism does exist, but to blame a corporation and not the individual is a sad mistake. Not every thing is racially based. Sometimes the number of people in the party means you have to skip over a group, or the smoking preference. Maybe the waitress couldn't wait on any more people at that time. Sometimes people make mistakes and pass over someone because they don't know who was next. Instead of a simple mistake, it is turned into discrimination. I am a server at Denny's. I am being discriminated against. I have had customers assume I will give them poor service because they are a minority. I resent that !!! I am not a racist. I do not discriminate. How can someone I have never met or seen before assume I am going to discriminate just because I work at Denny's? Maybe if everyone would stop assuming someone is going to be a certain way, things would work out a lot better all around.
IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT YOU ARE HIGHLY UNEDUCATED AND BLIND TO THE REALITY AND TRUTH OF WHAT REALLY HAPPENS ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS IN THE DAILY OPERATION OF A DENNY'S RESTRAUNT! THE TRUTH IS THAT DENNY'S AS A COMPANY AND EMPLOYER SPENDS LITERALY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND THOUSANDS OF COUNTLESS HOURS IN DIVERSITY/SENSITIVITY RESEARCH,TESTING,AND TRAINING! DESPITE THE OVERWHELMIG EFFORTS OF THE COMPANY WITHIN 50.000 PEOPLE THERE ARE BOUND TO BE SOME UNEDUCATED, IGNORANT PEOPLE WHO REGARDLESS OF HOW ANYONE ELSE FEELS, IS GOING TO ACT OUT IN THE MANNERS THAT THEY HAVE HARNESSED THROUGHOUT THERE LIVES! THE ONE AND ONLY THING THAT DENNY'S CAN DO AT THAT POINT IS STAND FIRMLY BEHIND THERE "NO/0 TOLERANCE" OF DESCRIMINATION OF ANY TYPE! IN ADDITION DENNY'S IS LIKELY TO HAVE THE HIGHEST % OF MINORITY EMLOYEES, MANAGERS, CLERKS, UPPER LEVEL MANAGEMENT, VENDORS, PROVIDERS, OWNERS, SUPPLIERS, SHAREHOLDERS, AND CUSTOMERS: IN COMPARISON TO ANY OTHER RESTRAUNT CHAIN, PERIOD! I DO BELIEVE THAT THE OVER ALL % IS APPROX. 45%! COMPARE THAT TO FRISCH'S, BOB EVANS, T.G.I.FRIDAYS, OLIVE GARDEN,ETC....THERE IS NO COMPARISON!!!!!! I MYSELF AM A MINORITY EMPLOYEE FOR DENNY'S AND IT IS EXTREMELY SAD THAT THE WORLD IS SO GULLABLE THAT THE ACTIONS OF A FEW EMPLOYEES WHO WERE OBVIOUSLY TERMINATED FOR THOSE ACTIONS, WOULD ALLOW SUCH A HUGE MISPERCEPTION OF SO MANY DILLIGENT HARD WOKING CITIZENS! WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH RIDICULE AND PREJUDICES IN REGARDS TO ACTIONS WE DID NOT COMMIT, ON A DAILY BASIS! THIS IS WHAT I CALL UNFAIR CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT ALL OF US WORK SO HARD TO, PROVIDE EVERYONE THE BEST SERVICE WE CAN AND PROVIDE FOR OUR FAMILIES! THIS IS THE REALITY OF THE SITUATION, AND DESPITE THE NEGETIVITY THAT PEOPLE SUCH AS YOURSELF BREED WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOCUS, KEEP A POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE (PMA), AND STRIVE TO DO OUR PERSONAL BESTS!

I wish he wouldn't personally attack me but he's entitled to his opinion after all. Of course, I'm sure we could all do without the CAPS!
I would like to ad an incident that happened last night at 2:30 am.
A group of 10 of us ( I black male, 7 filipino females, 1 filipino male and one white male) decided to go out to Denny's after a night of dancing. Upon our arrival the Manager did not greet us and claimed he did not have the seating for ten in his restaurant. We looked around and clearly seen seating to accommodate more than 10 people. We insisted that he join several tables together. He reluctantly complied. Once we were seated, there was a more than long wait to get our drinks ordered.
The waitress arrived, and again we were not greeted. Upon taking our drink order, one of the ladies in our party jokingly asked for a 'scotch on the rocks'. The waitress clearly didn't find the humor in the statement. Several people in our party asked for coffee. Once our drinks arrived, coffee was given to one of the ladies in a manner that caused the coffee to spill from the cup and onto the table. Not only did the waitress make no attempt to clean up the coffee spill, she tossed several creamers across the table and just walked away!! Dropping staws on the floor as she walked to kitchen shaking her head.
I immediately went to discuss this with the manager, who seemed to not care about my complaint, but agreed to discuss this with her. In the meantime she had came back to take or meal order. After taking our order, we noticed that the manager was having a discussion with the waitress. We could tell that the manager had mentioned this to her and we clearly overheard her say " she didn't care ". At this point we were very displeased with our service and walked out. The manager made to attempt to discuss this with us while we were walking out.
I believe that we where subjected to discriminatory behavior because of our race. Our table was not comprised of hoodlums or thugs and we were not loud or obnoxious. If fact, everybody in our party were over 25, some of us were professionals, and business owners. Even more, we are ALL AMERICAN citizens !!! I intend to follow through on this complaint.
