Living Native Traditions
The Pages
in this section of The Magic of Horses Website deal with aspects of American Indian
Culture, the Traditions of my People, (Cherokee), and the Way I live those Traditions.
There is far more to our Life-Way than beads and feathers and dancing at Pow-wows.
What I cover, here, is the "little-known"; what you may not see at a Native
Cultural Event or a Pow-wow, or read in the current literatue.
The Ways, Traditions, and Mores that I live everyday are the basis of
the knowledge I have about Horses. It is through the Traditions that I learned to
accept Horses as Companion-Life on the Earth, as a Respected Peer in Life,
rather than a form to which I am Dominant or Superior. The Teachings of my People afford
me the ability Learn from a Great Teacher---The Horse. In sharing some of the more
important aspects of my Culture with you, it is my Hope that you may find a key or two to
your own Relationships , whether Equine, Human, or Life in general.
