Let us imagine ourselves in a desert!
Let us imagine ourselves not eating for
forty days and forty nights - no pizza, no spaghetti,
no Macdonalds!
We are hungry, and in great need !
Jesus experienced this !
In the midst of His great hunger and need,
the devil challenged Him to change stones into bread!
And ...Jesus could have done it!
Instead...He looked the devil in the eye
and said,"It is not just on bread that we live
by, but on every word that comes from God."
Jesus was tempted, and didn't give in!
Lord, during this
Lenten time of
reflection, may we also look our temptations right in
the eye!
May we see the times when we have chosen
lives not of God....the times we have made wrong
choices - choices that are not based on love.
May we reach out to God, and fill our
hearts with His strength, wisdom, and the power to
withstand temptation.
May we choose God, beginning right now!
