Lord,
We don't know a lot about Mary Magdalen.
However, we do know that for whatever reasons,
consciously or unconsciously, she allowed herself to
be used and abused as a prostitute.
Then.....one day she met Jesus - probably the
first man who treated her with respect - who didn't
use her, even though she allowed herself to be used.
Jesus loved her for herself - her real self!
In her confusion, in her pain, in her realization
that she wanted to change her lifestyle, and in her
slowly growing self respect - Mary Magdalen was
transformed by the Love and Compassion flowing
through Jesus.
Jesus loved her so much that He appeared to her
after He had died - to comfort her as she sat weeping
at His tomb.
She became His messenger to proclaim to His
disciples the Good News that Jesus had risen from the
dead!!!
Lord, may today we open up our hearts, and in our
own pain, hurt and confusion, may each one of us be
touched and transformed by Your Loving Grace.
May each one of us also become Your Messengers -
like Mary Magdalene - who will proclaim Your Good
News - that You loved us so much that You were
willing to die for us.
We, too, will also rise one day to live eternally
with God.
Amen
