Dear
Lord,
Many of us began this new semester with hopes and dreams of making changes
in our lives - changes that would make us better people.
We decided that
this year we were going to take our school work more seriously. This year
we were going to greet each day with greater self-love and self-esteem,
and not get involved in things that can mess us up - bad relationships
and drugs, to name a few.
However, old habits die hard, and here in our third month of school,
we find ourselves already slipping back. We're starting to not do our homework,
we're starting to arrive late , and thoughts of skipping class altogether
are racing through our minds.
WE FIND OURSELVES NOT BEING STRONG ENOUGH
TO SAY NO TO THINGS THAT MESS US UP.
Lord, today, as we stand on the brink of slipping back into our yesterdays
that were filled with bad habits, we reach out to You. PLEASE HELP US!
Help us to realize that these times are transition times. We are 'in between'!
We're not quite the 'new' people we want to be, nor the 'yesterday' people
that we don't want to be.
Transitions periods can be painful, but Lord, help us to hang in there
during this time of change. Help us to know that step by step and day by
day, we can slowly become who we want to be. Help us to reach out to family,
friends, and teachers who will guide and support us during this time.
Nothing can ever replace the HIGH that we can get when dreams come true
, and we can look in the mirror everyday and feel proud of ourselves. HANG
IN THERE!
Amen
