Adem's Cross

Fourteen-year-old Adem, an Albanian boy, lives in Serb occupied Kosova. Adem hates existing in a constant state of terror. Every week, friends and family are beaten, teargassed and killed. But the Albanians are helpless against the Serbs' power. Their policy of passive resistance doesn't protect them when Adem's adored sister, Fatmira, reads a protest poem in public. From that moment on, Adem's family is singled out for special suffering. Now Adem must decide how to survive this never-ending nightmare with or without his family.
