The High Priest is close to the Shindran King, and received the last will of King Karikara. His last request was to have a duel before the Gods that the High Priest would arbitrate. The news of the King's death and of his choice of a duel before the Gods, brought by the High Priest on the battlefield, reached the two warring Shindran Princes just before the climax of their battle. Gadevy's army and Rajendra's, before there could be too many casualities, thus evaded their showdown. That role of announcer of the King's death was added in the anime, for it was not so in the original work.
