JASWANT
Jaswant, a Shindran warrior, is known for his jaguard-like flexibility and fierceness, but also for his special skill, summoning tigers. He is practically a match for Guibu in swordsmanship which prompted Darun, in the original work, to warn his allies that Jaswant uses the sword fairly, which is as much of compliment as he ever did to an enemy. He served the Shindran hereditary Prime minister, Gadevy's father-in-law, Mahendra, and his family. Under Gadevy, he served mainly as a spy, which was his strong point. When the Shindra army attacked Peshwald fortress, he was the one given the task of sending the signal for the troops, but Guibu and Narcasse stopped him and brought him into custedy. He was later released. In his native land, Shindra, he was present at the duel before the Gods which was supposed to choose the next ruler. At this event, Gadevy sent him to murder Prince Arslan, who was a supporter of Rajendra, his half-brother and contender for the throne. Task which Jaswant was not able to carry out, as he saw in Arslan the kind of integrity and bravery that Shindra desperately needed in a ruler. After Gadevy's death by the hand of the half-human warrior that was supposed to represent him in the duel, Jaswant, as Arslan was leaving to return for his country, followed him and asked to go with him. Thus he became one of Arslan's group and left for Pars. Pledging his true loyalty for the first time, having finally found a leader worthy of it, he became the type who served with his whole body and his whole soul. He protected Arslan from afar, following him like a shadow, always behind him, spending many nights in sleepless vigils at his door. He also secretly infiltrated the enemy's army. But even with his exemplary service at Arslan's side, he was still called 'The Foreigner' by Zaravant, which caused many frictions between the two. After a an argument that lead to severe reprimands, they began to slowly build a tenuous friendship.
