Chapter 20
Steph - The Human BullDozer

I was worried that the door at the top of the stairs would be locked, but in fact, there wasn't even a door to begin with! We ran through a small hole in the wall at the top of the stairs. It was so low that we had to crouch, and the edges were jagged. One caught on my pant leg and I got stuck. I tried to calmly unhook it but time was running out, I could hear the girl calling out to someone.
"They went up those stairs!" she yelled. "Quick! After them!"
Frederick ran back when he noticed I was stuck.
"There's no time! Give me your hand!"
"But Fred, these pants are new!"
He reached down and grabbed my arm. He jerked me up, ripping a huge slit in my pants. "My pants!" I squawked. Fred didn't have much sympathy.  He just pulled harder. We sprinted like hell. I was getting so tired of all this running. We finally stopped, right before I was about to faint from exhaustion. I looked up to see where we'd ended up.  . . . a dead end! There was a huge white wall right in front of us.
"Oh man!" groaned Frederick. "I can't believe this.  There's no way out of this one! Are you sure there isn't a hole in the ceiling somewhere? Or a trap door?"
"Not this time, buddy." Alex said sorrily.
"Well then, what do we do?" asked Steph.
 "Uh, guys?" I asked.
They turned around to look at me and noticed the huge colony of girls blocking what would have been our way out. They were glaring at us, with furrowed brows and straight mouths. One of them stepped forward slightly, and looked directly at me. She shook her head smugly, and finally broke the silence by yelling,
"You think you're quite smart, eh? Think you can just keep running away from us? Think you'll always be one step ahead? Well, hate to disappoint you, but this is the end of the line. You've got nowhere to go now."
The four of us squished together and clutched each other.
"What do we do?" I whispered.
"We surely can't take them ourselves.  There's dozens of them!" whispered Alex.
"I've got a plan, follow me!" yelled Stephanie, and with that she took off running, charging at the girls. She lowered her head, and let out a loud growl. What else could we do? We took off running after her. She approached the girls who, although they looked a little frightened, stood perfectly still.
"Have it your way!" she yelled, and ran right between two of them, forcing them apart. I grabbed her shirt and ran after her, Frederick grabbed mine and Alex locked arms with Frederick. She drove a path right through them, throwing them out of her way. We could hear them screaming as she elbowed and kicked her way along. The end of the blockage was quickly approaching and Stephanie finally broke through. She took off running but I didn't. Someone had grabbed my hair and was holding me back. Three girls already had a hold of Frederick and Alex was fighting with a whole group of them. Stephanie took one glance back, and then kept running. The look on her face said "I'm sorry!"
I screamed after her, yelling. "Stephanie! Stephanie come back! Wait! Stop!" but it did no good. She kept going without looking back. She rounded a corner and then was gone. My mind returned to the task at hand.
"Get your hands off my hair!" I shouted. No one let go, so I whipped myself around and punched the holder of my hair right in the stomach. She buckled backwards and let go of my hair.
"Tina!" a few girls exclaimed, and ran to help her. I tried to shake a girl off my other arm, but she was digging her nails in! I aimed, and then fired my leg right in her shin. She yelped, but didn't let go. She only dug her nails in farther. I took my free arm and started swinging at her face. I socked her right in the eye and she let go, but I was then immediately seized by three other girls. Two took a hold of my hands.  One rather large girl grabbed me under the arms from behind. I squalled and started kicking my feet in every direction. Two other girls ran over and each grabbed a leg. They all held on tightly until eventually I couldn't even move. I gave up (for the time being) and looked over at Frederick and Alex. Frederick had four girls with his arms and legs locked in their hands. Alex had nine girls, two on each limb and one supporting his head. The remaining girls were standing around, glaring at us.
"We got some live ones on our hands!" yelled someone. The voice sounded familiar, it was one of the girls who had been outside the crypt door. What was her name? Casi! That was it.
"C'mon girls, let's get them into some holding cells, we'll ask Godiva what she thinks we should do with them in the morning."
With that little statement, the girls erupted into huge screams, and they lifted the three of us up and began carrying us down the hallway. I felt like I was on a roller coaster!
They took us in a large room filled with janitor supplies, and dropped us on the floor! I landed on top of a window cleaner, and it jabbed into my back. They were about to leave us in there when the one who had stepped forward before yelled
"Wait! We shouldn't leave them together.  They might conspire!" The girls all whispered in agreement.
She came back in and grabbed me by the arm. Then jerked me up off the floor.
"Hey! Watch it!" I warned her.
 "Stuff it, blondie." she threatened.
I whipped my arm away from her, and tackled her neck. I was immediately swarmed by a bunch of girls. They wrestled me around, and then finally got a hold on me. They began walking with me out of the room. I tried to struggle free, to get back to Frederick, but there were too many of them, and they were strong.
"Frederick!" I cried. "Frederick!" I managed to free one arm and waved it out toward him. He got up off the floor and ran to me. Before his hand could reach mine, some of the girls let go of me and ran to block him. They restrained him as he called out to me.
"Andrea! No, don't take her away. Please!" his eyes filled with tears as well as mine as they dragged me through the door and shut it behind me.
