Chapter 21
A Night Out On The Town

The next thing I remember, I was lying on a nicely made bed with a cloth on my forehead. My back was throbbing with pain but when I tried to turn over, I found I was tied down to the bed. I started crying. My eyes welled with tears and they streamed down my face. With every sob my back screamed in pain, but I couldn't stop myself. I missed my family, I was hungry, my clothes were dirty, my hair was tangled and matted, and worst of all, I was all alone. I needed Frederick. I screamed, and felt better. I looked around the room.  It was not too small, and not too big. There were pictures on the walls. They were beautiful scenes, there was a waterfall with a pool at the bottom filled with colourful fish, another was a huge garden with bright flowers and butterflies. A dresser was standing against the opposite wall.  It had a huge vanity mirror mounted on top of it. I caught a glimpse of my reflection. It was not pretty. My head began to throb along with my back, and I fell asleep again.
I was awakened by three girls who were shaking my shoulders violently. I moaned and opened my eyes. One of the girls looked at me and gave a noise of disapproval.
"I don't see why Godiva wants us to do this. Nothing good can come of it." she said.
Another girl pushed the first one aside and held out a bag. I just lay there are looked at it. The first girl reached down and grabbed the collar of my shirt. She jerked me upright and I found myself now sitting on the bed. I recognized that yank. It was the girl who took me away from Frederick.
"Take the bag!" she screamed in my face.
I blindly reached out and fumbled to hold on to the plastic bag.
"The washroom is through that door.  There's a hair brush, a toothbrush etc. in here for you to use. Get yourself cleaned up, you have one hour, then you'll have to face Godiva."
 "Wh. . .what?" I stammered.
They ignored me and left the room. I heard the lock click behind them.
The pain in my back had gone down, I stood up and walked around the room. My head cleared a little, and I headed toward the door the girl had talked about earlier. It opened into a huge washroom that looked quite similar to the one me and Frederick had been in before. I noticed a shower in one corner of the room and figured I'd probably feel much better after a nice lavishing.
When I stepped out of the shower, I felt like a new person! My hair was silky smooth, my skin was soft and clean, and I could actually see underneath my fingernails! I checked out the bag and was amazed to see all the things they expected me to use! The outfit they'd given me was a beautiful purple silk dress, a sparkling gold shawl, and black platform shoes. They even gave me a matching nail polish colour! Not to mention a make up kit containing everything in my colours. I felt like I was going on a date with royalty or something, as I topped my whole ensemble off with golden lipstick.
Just as I put the cap back the door opened and the jerk who took me from Frederick came in again. She looked me up and down.
"Well, you didn't do a half bad job, considering you've been running around like a savage with those boys for who knows how long! You'd think a girl would forget how to apply mascara properly after that."
 "Um, whatever." I replied.
She glared at me and responded, "Follow me, and don't try anything funny." It was then that I noticed the scratch marks on her neck. Good, so I'd had a lasting impression.
"Heheheh." I chuckled under my breath.
She took me outside and led me into an elevator. I checked out the panel.  There were 14 floors. She pressed number "14" and the door slid silently closed.
