Krystelyna

The Beginning ?

She sat up and looked around. "Where am I?" she asked herself. Krystelyna looked around at the white glistening walls and then at the rest of her surroundings. She was sitting on a massive 4-poster oak bed that had beautifully carved roses painted in white and red. The room was decorated in red and white roses. Except for the walls. She got down off the bed and went over to one of the walls. She reached out and gentley touched it. It felt warm to the touch, but yet she still had a cold sensation that engulfed her entire body.

She jerked back her hand and went back to the center of the room. She looked around to find a way out, but she saw none. No windows, no doors, nothing. She started to scream, trying to get someones attention. But no one came. Krystelyna started to panic. She knew she had to get out of there. But how? She jumped back on the bed to think, but as she hit the middle of the bed, she started falling.

Krystelyna awoke with a start. She quickly looked around, to find that she was back in her own little room. Krystelyna jumped out of bed and ran out into the front room, there at the tiny table was her sister. Krystelyna ran over to her sister and said, "I had it again!" "Had what again?" asked Dawnetta. Krystelyna began to cry, and through her tears she said, "That dream! That same bad dream!" "Please calm down and try to tell me about it." said Dawnetta. Dawnetta was the eldest and had been taking care of herself and Krystelyna every since their parents had been killed when their village had been raided several years before.

Krystelyna's voice began to rise. "You know what dream I'm talking about! It's the same one that I have had every since Mother and Father were killed!" "Ok ok, Krystelyna." Dawnetta was trying to be patient with her litle sister, but it was getting real hard by now. "Yes, I know about your dream. I was just hoping that maybe there was a little more to it this time. It has to mean something, but what I don't know." Krystelyna started to calm down. She knew that Dawnetta was doing everything she knew to try and help find out what the dream meant. Krystelyna thought about the dream again. "No, there was nothing different about it. It was the same thing this time as it was the last."

Dawnetta thought for a long time before speaking. "There is only one other thing I know to do. We can go to the caves and see the lady there. She is supposed to be able to tell you about different things. Maybe she can tell you what your dream means." Krystelyna's eyes got big as she looked at her sister with surprise and shock. "You mean go to the Lady of the Caves? But you always told me to stay away from there. That it was a bad place and that people sometimes come from there....well...um... not whole as they were when they left the village." Krystelyna couldn't remember the exact words that her sister had used to describe the state that the people were in, but she did remember that it meant not their selves or something very similar. Dawnetta paused for a moment before speaking. "Krystelyna, I see no other way or any other help where your dream is concerned. Even the village priests have said that they can't help you. They are saying that when our parents were killed that it possibly could have left you a little...well..soft in the head."

Krystelyna's eyes started to water when she heard her sister say this. Dawnetta quickly continued, "But,my sweet little sister, I know that there is nothing wrong with you." She put her arms around her little sister and held her as they both sobbed. "But haven't you ever wondered why the other villagers look at you strangely? Or the way that no one would let their children play with you when you were younger?" Krystelyna thought about this and a lot more. Maybe she was touched in the head like the priests and villagers thought she was.

Krystelyna sighed. "Then do we go tomorrow?" she asked with uncertainty. Dawnetta looked at her scared face and said, "Yes, little sister, we leave at mornings first light"
