overlooking: St.Paul-St.Louis

St. Paul-St. Louis. Located at 99 Rue St. Antoine 75004. This Jesuit church was a key symbol of the society's influence from 1627, when Louis XIII laid the first stone, to 1762 when the Jesuit's were expelled from France.

The Gesu church in Rome served as the model for the nave, while the 195 ft. high (60m) dome was the forerunner of those of the Invalides and the Sorbonne.

Christ in the Garden of Olives: Delacroix
Christ in the Garden of Olives by Delacroix

Most of the church's treasures where removed
during the revolution or later periods of turmoil,
but Delacroix's masterpiece Christ in the
Garden of Olives can still be seen here.
