To Orion On A Moonless Night by: Trish Osborne 2/1/2000
As I close my eyes, I see flashes of pain- I look to Orion for strength and find none. Faces, fists- terrifying me- The memories flooding in- The river strives to overflow. Tears threatening to blur my sight; as I stare out lost- into the moonless night- Voices, laughter- mocking me like A hyena mocks the moon. Terrible fear paralyzing me- Images and flashes of the faceless shadows. Orion- great God of the Hunt- Do not forsake me, now, For I have become the hunted. How many more moonless nights must I endure? How many more moonless nights Will it take for me to truly forget? I fear, O Great one, I will always remember- And that is truly terrifying! But still, I close my eyes, And remember that pain- How I lost sight of your glory through the blur Of my own tears- Tears, I am afraid, that have Cried a river- On many a moonless night such as this.
