As we finally approached the system, something about it scared me... "D'ANA I don't know about this... something about this place bothers me really bad! But, I'm not sure what it is." You don't have to be scared Zen, I have scanned for the aliens here and there is absolutely no signs of them! So what else could bother you??? "Well the charts say there ARE six planets, and I only see five." That is because the sixth is so far out that the light of the sun doesn't reflect very much. "Oh... I KNOW WHAT IS BOTHERING ME NOW!!!" Why are you shouting? "I know exactly what's bothering me! There is no green or blue planet!!! How am I going to survive on a planet with no plants or water???" Zen, who ever said there was no water or plants? Valkrye has over 65 percent of the surface covered by water!!! Also... the surveys show over three thousand kinds of native flora, and over a thousand different species of animals! The only thing they didn't find was intelligent humanoids!!! "If all those things are there... how come there are no green-blue planets???" Just a sec, let me search the database... ahhh here it is. There is a chemical in the system that is native only to this star system, it very similar to sulfur but it is entirely an inert chemical. But the survey shows that it causes the atmosphere to be a bright violet-purple color. It also states that large quantities of the chemical were taken for testing. All the results show that it is totally harmless to humans no matter how concentrated it is!!! I see here that they named it unofficially "Infra-dridium", the name is a mixture of "infra" because it absorbs/refracts the normal spectrum of light and emits it in the infra-red spectrum, and "dridium" is a Klaxon word for sulphur-like. "I don't know if I like it any better now that I know what it is!!! Strange chemicals... and I am the guinea pig!!!" You are not a guinea pig... now just relax for another hour. Then we will be entering the atmosphere, and you will have all the time you ever imagined to worry about infra-dridium! Even if it will do no good to do so!!!
As we slowly drifted above the planet, I saw the most beautiful clouds
ever imaginable. They were the brightest violet-purple-magenta colors
blended together... I am going to start a surface
scan for the best place to land. When I find a suitable spot we will
begin to enter the atmosphere, OK. "Yes
that's fine, isn't this the most beautiful sky?"
You know that I am only a computer, intelligent yes... opinionated no...
so how would I decide what is beautiful or not? "Do
you always have to be right... with an opinion or not!!!" Of
course... that is my job! "Oh great,
no opinion but you sure have sarcasm down! Ha Ha" Well
I found a spot that is perfect! It is on the edge of a meadow where
the forests begin, and there is a stream nearby! Prepare yourself
for entering the atmosphere... I took
one last look at the clouds from above as the window shields lowered into
place. "Will I ever get to see the sky from above again???" Yes,
someday... but for now this will be your home, at least you think it is
beautiful!!! If I ever felt homesick
this had to be the time I felt it the most. The landing punctuated
the fact that this is where I was going to grow up and maybe die... without
ever seeing one of my own kind again... I had closed my eyes to try
and hold back the overwhelming tears... I had tried to keep my mind clear
of any thoughts what-so-ever, and time just drifted away... oblivious to
everything! Zen, wake up we are here!!!
