A Mother's Sonnet
Your eyes reflect an innocence I once had
Your laughter reflects a joy I once knew
Your mischievous soul glistens as mine had done
And all that once was mine I see in you
My joy bubbles in ripples of jollity
My heart merrily hums a youthful tune
My soul is found wherever you may be
Because at your birth, life began anew
And yes, I know there are days I could scream
And yes, I know some days I often do
And yes, I know we have our differences
But rainbows are made with many hues
And I want you to know that through it all
I will never ever stop loving you

katie - hours old
As I hold you close, I know you've stolen my heart
Just seconds in this world and you've got a great start
I'm wrapped around your finger and don't want to go
There's much I want to tell you, much you'll need to know
Before you soar away.
heather -- hours old
With less fanfare than the first, you are my second born
Though no less precious to the world or to me
You are God's gift to our family tree
As I cuddle you in the late hours of this June morn
I see the beauty of the world reborn
katie -- at one
So deeply in love am I, I have spoiled you so
If you cry as I leave, I hesitate to go
My beautiful daughter with eyes so big and blue
With each breath I take, I want to say I love you
Then you tell me, "Bye-Bye"
heather -- at one
So many kisses, hugs, and all kinds of loving ways
Your very existence has enriched our lives
Despite the rare burst of tears or fits and sighs
I've watched you grow through all your todays and yesterdays
And through your tomorrows, I'll watch you fly
katie -- at two
I am constantly chasing you around the room
Grabbing pennies from your mouth as you shout "vroom, vroom"
Today you're a racecar and yesterday a hun
Tomorrow a who-knows-what just so you can run
And tear apart my world
heather at two
You desire to be like your sister in many ways
Yet you are your own unique person, too
You still look at the world with eyes so new
And with everything you see, you stand shocked and amazed
It's no wonder you've got me so love crazed!

katie -- at three
I would think babyhood would be over by now
You're forever asking questions -- why, what, and how
Yet there are times you still want to be rocked asleep
And held in my arms, given lullabies to dream
I thank God that you do
If you'd like to read a story
about the girls' daddy

katie -- at four
Unpredictable child, so melodramatic
The truth is the truth and a lie is just a trick
Silly child, effervescing with your little quirks
Temperamental as any artist with her works
And never once quiet

Go Family!!
But there's also still more to look at here!
katie -- at five
My dear daughter, so vibrant and pure of heart
Acting on untamed emotions, with fits and starts
In grand Fourth of July style, you kindle and flame
And burst through the air leaving the imprints of your name
Floating within our eyes.
This is it for Heather,
after all, she's our youngest,
but you can find out more about her
by pressing this link
Go Heather!
But there's also more to look at on this page!

katie at 6
At six years old, you're already a young woman
As always, you're full of vitality and fun.
Grace and intelligence have blossomed in your eyes
How am I deserving of such a wondrous prize?
Dear girl, you astound me!

Go Katie!
Because there's nothing more to see here
