Well ahem *cough* that's what we used to call ourselves!! Not that we solved
any mysteries but were inspired by the Famous Five, a collection of books
by Enid Blyton and we did *try* to solve mysteries (well whatever we thought
were mysteries) such as who stole the local chicken!
We didn't stop there! We tried to climb trees to the agony of our elegant,
prim and proper grandmother who attempted in vain to groom us into proper
ladies and gentlemen and carry on her role in society! Little did she know....*chuckles*
that we were tearing our dresses climbing trees or stealing raw peanuts
from the fields during our little expeditions!! Until ofcourse the farmers
come marching to my grandfather DEMANDING some kind of restitution for
the damages done! *grins* Not that we were bad...afterall there was ONLY
4 of us! How many peanut plants could we have a destroyed????!!!
Then again, there were the times of flying our kites! Hmmm should I say
attempting to??!! For we lost countless kites and half the time we were
running around behind the kite trying to pull it down from escaping our
grasps disregarding the muddy fields!! Oh my grandmother and my mother
dressed us in frilly, beautiful dresses which needless to say were "what
frilly, beautiful dresses?!!" by the end of the day! *laugh*
Oh the coolest thing was that I had a pomeranian pup called Troshiba, Tro
for short which was akin to Georgy's (a character from the book Famous
Five) dog, Timothy-Tim for short! Need I say that Tro joined us in all
our escapades!! *laugh* Oh I was also the benefactress of a local mongrel
which I baptised, Snowy (go go Tintin!!!).
Those days of waiting for hours holding a string to catch a squirrel,
scraping our knees trying to catch doves, feeding Tro cod liver oil pills
and many many such adventures can never be equalled in this lifetime!!!!
Thinking of that makes me very sad but the memories, those unforgetable
memories is what keep you going....of the hot Lankan sun scorching your
face, the mud sloshing around...
Gosh those were times! *laugh*
Enough of that! I am sure you're all *almost* dying to meet my cousins!
*chuckles*
My cousins are......let's start with *drum roll please*....
Voila Dinesh, Diroshan, Dileesha, Dilanthy,
Dhilani and Diluxion (Datho) having pizza
(I believe sea food pizza) at Pizza Hut,
Colombo. |
Dhilani Jeyakumaran Annappah is the eldest of my cousins! She's bright,
beautiful and witty not to mention extremely talented. Time flies when
talking to her. She's also the one who resembles my mother most in temperament!
*grins* She's currently doing her first year medicine at St. Petersburg
State University, Russia. She did her A/L's at Bishop's Colombo and was
part of the debating team *which doesn't surprise me at all!*. She
was a student of Jaffna College, Vadukkodai. She can play the piano divinely
and sing like an angel!
Although we've been apart for many years it amazes me as to the common
interests we share!!! She's magnificient and cannot be replaced!
Dinesh Jeyakumaran Annappah is ofcourse the reknown Dhilani's younger brother.
Of a serious, studious type, he is someone to rely on! He's another intelligent
kid currently finished his A/Ls from St. Thomas, Colombo-yes yes he's one
of the Thoras! :) Currenly he's teaching there, awaiting his admission
to the Colombo Medical College! His A/L results were 3A, B.
He was a student of Jaffna College as well. He's also into "science" just
like his sis and their mother who's a zoology teacher. Ah but there
is ofcourse the dashing side to Dinesh with his fabulous voice and ability
to sing. Hmmm should hear him sing the Tamil cinema song, "Sonsia
Sonia...."
Datho, Dhilani, Dinesh, Kumar mama, Indra mamie, Manicula (Dilanthy) (what?????!!! Manicula? She's not part of this family btw! *grins*)) and the mongrel, Turbo (which is also not theirs!).
Diluxion Jeyakumaran Annappah, commonly known as Datho is the youngest
in their family! With a wicked sense of humour, I bet he can make any girl's
heart flutter! *chuckles* He's deliriously funny and very much a kid. He
just finished his O/Ls a year ago and is in the Commerce field. Here goes
another Thora and hurrah of a former JCite! :) Here's also an excellent
drummer.
Well these are the 3 I grew up with!
What can I say about
kind, serene, extremely talented and intelligent Thabitha Darlington Jeyarajan
Annappah?! I call her Thaby Moose...not mouse but moose! I even wonder
why! She's 13 years now and already devastating with her smile! With her
Annappah and Lewis combination, what else can you expect?! I don't know
her much truth to say except I've spent a couple of years with her and
spoken to her over the telephone but she's one heck of a kid! *grins* She
had been throughout at Jaffna College where her father is the Lower school
Principal. She also happens to be the Class Councillor. She
is extremely generous and always willing to share all the things she has.
Adambs Diroshan Jeyaseelan Annappah is very much the quiet, unassuming
kid with somber, unfathamable eyes. He is extremely kind and and
family-oriented. He doesn't talk much and takes things as they come.
He studies at Colombo Hindu College and is a scholar with honours in the
Sri Lankan Scholarship Exams commong to all Grade 5 students.
The Jeyaseelan Annappahs
Seelan mama, Manicula (again?????!!!), Dileesha, Diroshan and Jeyantho mamie..
His sister, Dileesha Jeyaseelan is the complete antithesis to her
brother!!!!! I wonder how 2 people from the same family could be so different!
She's a fun, charming kid with a bright smile! Extremely bright, dramtic
and imaginative... A former student of Uduvil Girl's College, she's currently
at Colombo Methodist College.! She's very funny and amusing....a gem of
the first degree.
Diann Jeyaruban Annappah is half Scottish. I don't know much about her
except for the fact that she's half Cambel and half Annappah! *chuckles*
There goes another cute lassie :)
Our own Rebecca
Dilanthy Jeyachandran Annappah, known as Manicula is six years old.
The kid is a walking night mare! *chuckles* However she has improved over
the years. Whaddya know, she's actually lady-like now! She
goes to school in Montreal, Canada. Very bright and mischievous little
girl is our Manicula. So far to my knowledge, she has the best of everything....
This is my realm of cousins. I am an only child but I've never felt
like one with such a big family around. *smile*
Me and Manicula were at Sri-Lanka and Malaysia last year visiting our families. Yeah yeah Manicula came along with me! *sigh*
That me reminds me...I haven't introduced you all to my Malaysian cousins have I? They are my second cousins. So let's go and visit them too.....
