You exchanged wedding vows with him
Vowed to love and cherish forver.
He did the same with you...
You were both going to share everything.
Somewhere along the line you both
Got your priorities mixed up.
You wanted to be the perfect wife
And he the perfect husband.
But then reality stepped in, you became a mom.
You found out that being a wife and a mother
Were two entirely different things.
After a hard day of being Mom, cook,
errand girl, maid to all
It was so hard to be a wife when the night came.
He thought that once his work was done
And he came in the door at 5 p.m.
It was his time to relax, unwind...hard day, you know
He honestly can't understand why you are so tired.
While he is unwinding, you are still going strong.
Tired, but still so much to be done.
Bedtime comes, wife exhausted, wanting to be held.
Husband, rested up, wants his physical needs tended to.
Exhaustingly she submits, praying she took her pill.
As she is getting some much needed rest
In her hospital bed 9 months later,
Reality is there once more and the cycle starts anew.
Twenty-five years down the road, still together but
Totally different lives, going their separate ways
Sharing nothing but the name on the mailbox.
