Upon foreign sod she trod,
her heart is heavy laden.
Betrothed by time, claimed
by none, this gentle and fair maiden.

She treads alone, on new soil
unfamiliar with worldly ways.
Bitter lessons stalk her heels,
And within her being, stays.

Her past is left in shadows,
Her future yet untold.
Faltering footsteps placed upon
A land barren and cold.

Unrelinquished love has she.
It lies as a smoldering fire.
Save but one, there is no other,
that can quench her souls desire.

She rejoices not, from her life,
her love is not returned.
Each new day brings heartache,
and again her love is spurned.

Darkness lies within her soul,
in despair she bows her head.
And dainty footsteps are all that's found,
upon the cliffs raw edge.
