Don Shaner

Don Shaner of Oil City was always very modest about his photography.  Any compliments directed at his work were accepted in kind, but he often referred to his finer images as "dumb luck".  The truth is, Don had a great eye for what others tended to overlook.  He was best known among other club members as the guy who saw the beautiful aesthetics in everyday subjects.  The loss of Don will be felt greatly by all who knew him.  Below are some samples of his work.

To Don, a swirling vortex of water was as dramatic as the eye of a hurricane.

A simply amazing photo, Don shot this along the shore of Lake Chatauqua.  Club members assumed he had placed the subject in that position to illuminate him in the setting sun, but Don swore it just happened that way.  Planned or not, Don seized the moment to achieve a fantastic shot with great composition.
