Established in March 1974 at Faisalabad, college was shifted to its present premises in November the same year. So far we have trained 4033 (at 1998) doctors who are serving both at national and international levels. We have also trained doctors from many regions of the world who are now playing an important role in the health care and medical education in their own countries.

Rawalpindi Medical College is recognised by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council as well as by the General Medical Council of UK. It is also recognised by WHO and therefore by all members countries of the organisation. Our graduates also have temporary registration in the state of Illinois, USA.

In spite of infrastructural limitations, the level of academic as well as research achievements of the college are considerable and offer a testimony to the dedication and untiring efforts of the past and present staff of the college.

Situated in the heart of the city of Rawalpindi, the college is only at twenty minutes drive from Islamabad. The host of social, cultural and intellectual activities that this beautiful city has to offer when combined with the inner city flavour of Rawalpindi, provide a stimulating diversion from the busy academic schedule.

Following the guidelines set by the University of Punjab, the five academic years are divided into two broad categories, preclinical and clinical.
