Presenting:

SHUYUROKAKU

Ellie Mamahara, the mangaka for Shuyurokaku, is unique in her part nior, part indifferent approach to story telling. This distance she puts between the reader and the story allows the reader to identify with the antagonists, and their flaws (another thing I like about her characters) only make them more realistic.

Again, Shuyurokaku is a single volume manga that contains two short stories which are related. The story treads on the theme of shounen ai: Not only is the demon loosing his power, he is afraid that he will be loosing his lover, the high priest (see left), if their contact nullifies. His insecurity and jealousy led to the creation of his own tragedy, when, out of duty, the high priest decided to marry a beautiful maiden.

Eventually I will have translations for the two page scans on this page.
