Firing Away Again!

Life's Hourglass

Just like the sands in an hourglass flow,
is the way our life seems to always go.
From the very day of our own birth,
we must accept time for what it's worth.

As a newborn babe without a care,
to the start of school, knowledge to share.
As we progress from grade to grade,
the sands of time seem to parade.

Friends are made, but even more,
we find the love life has in store.
Closer and closer we grow so near,
to the ones that we hold so dear.

We graduate and then we go to work,
unaware of the pitfalls that do lurk.
We spend years trying to make a life,
which is jeopardized by constant strife.

We pass through the silver years of our time,
those which are supposed to be our prime.
But we never have the things we need,
the hourglass sands seem to speed.

The sands diminish as we reach our golden years,
we wonder why they're filled with fears.
Walking slow, perhaps with cane in hand,
still watching the hourglass sand.

Then sand flows from the top no more,
it's time to enter through heaven's door.
The hourglass sand has now been passed,
our time on earth, over at last.

Always In Flames

Love is like flames burning inside,
there's just no way for you to hide.
That we're always in love, naturally,
and that's the way it's meant to be.

Flames that are burning so very strong,
keeping us always from going wrong.
They won't go out from rain or wind,
nothing will cause these flames to end.

These flames are my love you see,
always burning for you constantly.
The fire won't go out, or even flicker,
if we're apart, it will burn quicker.

So we are always together though apart,
by sharing our feelings heart to heart.
Flames so high showing we both care,
such a great love we always share.

In love so long, and always true,
always loving in all we do.
Reminded of what we've already shared,
always knowing how much we cared.

You know that I will always care,
and I know that you're always there.
The strength of these flames will prove to you,
the love we share is forever true.

Always in flames, always on fire,
always with you is my life's desire.
So keep the flames burning, let them go,
proving I always love you so.
Yes loving you always, as you do me,
now and forever through all eternity.

Depression?

Depression, that's something not allowed,
not while Rapid-Fire's is with the crowd.
No need to frown even for a while,
I'm here to make sure that you can smile.

Humorous poetry written right off the cuff,
it seems is usually has been enough.
Guaranteed to raise a smile or a laugh,
maybe even bust your gut in half.

So far all depression has been driven away,
with humorous poetry that makes their day.
Even stopped one guy from committing suicide,
but he laughed so hard, he still died.

Write Away

What can I do?, I've locked up my computer,
the toilet's plugged, call motor-rooter.
Tell them hurry, my manuscript is due today,
why did they say to tell me write away?

I'm already doing that, I'm trying to type,
now it smells like the bathroom's ripe.
I hope they fix the toilet quick,
and why did this computer have to get sick?

I've got four more hours to get this all done,
and I thought that writing was
supposed to be fun.
I see the work crew, they're here at last,
oh no, they just drove right on past.

Here's my keys, catch them with my car,
and let them know just where we are.
They wouldn't have past if they had
followed their nose,
nothing in here smells like any rose.

I finally got through to the computer technician,
his machine's message said he had went fishin'.
I called another one up and he said 'write away',
how does everyone know what I'm doing today.

If I hear those two words one more time,
when they're done they won't get one dime.
Everything is fine now, and they've got their pay,
I'll beat my deadline if I mail this - 'right away.'

Make Snow Angels

Won't be making snow angels this winter,
I've discovered that I'm way too old.
I'll leave it to the young kids,
I've found out that stuff is cold.

I might do it if I could wear a wet suit,
to insulate my thin flowing veins.
Besides, that outfit makes me cute.
not to mention a whole lot warmer.

I used to enjoy it when I was younger,
I mean, it was really a lot of fun.
Arthritis creeping up on me,
those kind of things are done.

No more flopping back,
I wouldn't get up again.
It would kill my sacroliliac,
but you go right ahead.

NOT AGAIN!!!

In 5 more days, our youngest gal becomes a teenager,
already demanding a cell phone and her own pager.
Been through this mess two times before,
but what will this one have in store?

She has been a "teenager" for over five years,
so will the official age bring any more fears?
She even says she'd like to have her own horse,
but I'm not about to say --- "of course."

Don't have a hint as to what else she'll say,
too bad? that I'll be working on that fateful day.
Now she'll be wiser than me & her mom,
already making plans for her Junior Prom.
Don't know if I'll survive this third one then,
that's the reason I'm saying --- NOT AGAIN!!

Independence Day

Independance Day, what does it mean to you,
is it more than our flag of red, white, and blue?
It's fireworks, some duds, lots of lawn chairs,
sparklers and kids oohing with all the stares.

Naturally you'll have to attend a parade,
and hope that you can find some shade.
Barbecues, picnics, the Statue of Liberty,
some of the things the 4th means to me.

Patriotism, freedom, a great holiday,
there's many more things one could say.
Could go on and on, but there's no way,
so have a safe & sane Independance Day!
