Ehacatl was the Aztec god of wind. He was also commonly an aspect of Quetzalcoatl, forming Quetzalcoatl-Ehacatl. He was usually shown wearing a mask with a snout.
According to legend, he brought physical love to the world when he abducted the beautiful virgin Mayahuel from the Underworld. The two deities became intertwined with each other, forming a tree with two trunks. Mayahuel's guardian, Tzizimitl, pursued them to Earth, and cut the tree in two.Mayahuel's branch was torn to shreds, but Ehacatl was left unharmed, and then resumed shape, gathered Mayahuel's pieces, buried them, and from her grave, white wine was grown.
