Khmer Consonants

I want you to take a look at all the Khmer consonants below, and come up with some impressions at first glance. What does it reminds you of in your daily life?

For example,

  • "Wow, these letters are strange."
  • "Hey, that Khmer letter looks like an 'm'." (i.e., n, r, u, v, w, etc...)
  • "Is that a butt-crack?"
  • "That one over there looks like Paula Jones' nose before reconstructive surgery."
The Khmer alphabet listed here starts from the top left to the far right and then to the next road; again starting left to right... so forth and so forth.
As you might have noticed, Khmer letters are much like English cursive handwriting. Later, I'll show you how to write all of these consonants.
Note:The last character that is shaped like a "7" is not part of the Khmer consonants. The "7" denouces an end to something. It functions similar to the English end punctuation marks, the "period".

TIP: I suggest you print out this page as future reference. YOU GONNA NEED IT!!
