Milena Jesenská-Pollak (1896-1944). Starting in 1920, she and Franz had a very close relationship, conducted mostly by letters, much like his relationship with Felice, but Milena seemed to be able to understand him. He finally decided they should stop writing, since Milena couldn't bring herself to leave her philandering husband. She accepted his reasoning reluctantly, but for months afterward she would still visit the post office to be sure that no more letters were forthcoming.
