First and foremost truism:
1. Tell the truth, and you will be run out of nine cities...Arab Proverb
2. The Trail of Tears was a pre-meditated mass murder of the
Cherokee Nation, not unlike Hitler's genocide of the Jews. It is
called such because, in mid-winter, on a forced march, forging
a path through and rivers of ice, and valleys of snow, the
Cherokees, were dropping to the side of the banks like tears.
The tears were the Cherokee people, not the many tears that
were cried Timeline. Secondly, there were thousands upon
thousands of Cherokee people on the forced march. The
number is incorrect, and keeps getting smaller with the years.
The government would find it to expensive to rectify what they
have done. Giving the land back would be catastrophic as far
as the government is concerned, and if there is gold to be found,
the government wants to make sure it gets it's hands
on it first. .
3. Scalping was initiated by the French. People were paid for the
scalps
of Natives that they brought to the government. Often one
was scalped before they were dead. Many of the cruelites from
Natives were taught to them by white invaders. But, yet the blame
was put on the Natives, as it was okay for the white people to rape,
pillage, and burn but, not okay for the Native to defend themselves.
Washington Assumes Command of the Virginia Force Defending
one's own territory is only condoned if it is to defend the white man's
invasion. A very English way of thinking.
4. The reason we are called Indians is, because the idiots thought they
had reached India. They thought they had found the shortcut they were
looking for. Why anyone demands they be called an Indian is beyond
me. The Indians don't mind it but, I was informed, they don't understand
it, and they especially do not understand the treatment given to Native
Americans. People from India are Indians, not Natives or Aboriginals
of America.
5. Natives were people of Nations. The closest facsimile I can give you
is compared to Europe. Italy might be the Lakota, Spain: the Cherokee,
France: the Apache, and so forth. It's a rough translation but, it gives
you the general idea.
6. I am on the roll. I am half Cherokee, and half German/Jew. The roll says
I am 1/16th Cherokee. I am a direct descendant of Great, Great, Chief Lowry.
I have all my geneology papers from my father's side of the family. I used
to have information on how they did the roll to cut down the proportion of
what Nation you were derived from but, I cannot find it at the moment. This
was also somewhat of a belittlement, as it was to assure that you could not
get benefits owed to you by the governement for the future children of many
great nations.
There you have it. Whether you like it or not, they are truths, and I am not
going to banter back and forth on the issues with you, as I do not believe in
beating dead horses to death:):) Although, if you have information to any of
the above, I would be interested in viewing it.
