You follow the young man as he leads you towards the stage. You are filled with horror as you see that the once empty Opera House is now filled to capacity. All those in attendance are dressed strangely. Then it hits you- these are nineteenth-century evening apparel. Your twentieth-century casual clothes and Tatiana's odd garments draw stares from the crowd, which all have that unusual sickly color of skin. Bewildered, you sit where the young man directs, between Tatiana and Michael. You glance at the fairy. Her skin is as white as snow, and her light even whiter; it hurts your eyes to look at her. You now realize that her skin color changes with her moods and right now she's terrified. Glancing at Michael, you see that he's extremely pale. So are you for that matter.
Turning your attention to the stage you gaze is immediately drawn to a young girl of no more than eighteen dressed in masculine attire.
A much older woman, much larger woman, is playing Margerite.
The soprano sang her only lines in Act 2 and is rewarded by thunderous applause. You do not clap and are given dirty looks from those sitting next to you.
The act ends and when the next one begins you are ill at ease. Unable to get pass the feeling that something terrible is about to happen. The next act opens and goes on presumably as planned.
The beautiful young girl sings, "And assure her that my love is strong and pure. Tell my hopes and fears..."
The bouquet she is holding begins to tremble as she looks up at something you cannot see. Her voice falters, loosing it's beauty and clarity as though she were afraid of something. The play proceeds and you hear Tatiana in a mournful voice whisper, "Why are you doing this to yourself, Erik?"
At the same time Michael whispers in an awe-filled voice, "Christine..."
Suddenly it hits you. The girl on stage is Christine Daae. But how? How is that possible? You rack your brain trying to think back on events that happened during Faust in Gaston Leroux's book. Only two come to mind: Christine's abduction and Carlotta's great croak.
 Which is it?

If you think that Christine is in danger of being kidnapped, take a chance at changing history and go to #9.
If you think Carlotta is about to croak, get out there now by running to #10.
