All About...
Well Hello again, and welcome.
If you haven't already figured out, I am a true die hard
New Yorker in every sense of the imagination.
I am originally from Long Island (Brentwood) to be exact.
Was whisked away by my parents right after
graduating high school in 1979.
Much to my dismay, I have been trying to
get back to New York, ever since.
You might think that there would be no problem
in just picking up and moving back...well, I have tried
that a few times over the last 20 years of
living here in South Florida, but for some
strange reason I would get close, i.e. New Jersey,
Virginia, but not quite back to the Island and City I adore.
Ya know, I don't care what anyone tells you down
here in South Florida, but you NEVER get used
to rubbing suntan lotion on yourself, at the beach,
while "Santa" jets by you on a wave runner!
I just can't seem to accept that. I am in no means
Florida bashing here, I am however stating how
a native New Yorker tries so hard to accept the
difference in season, location, heat index,
when in my heart all I see is the Big Apple.
Well now, being that my 40Th birthday is rapidly
approaching, I am determined to begin, what I
like to think, are the best years of my life, back
on the earth that tugs at my heart strings.
It truly amazes me what affect New York has on me.
It's almost as if it is a relative of mine, the emotions
run so deep. Then again, I have so many fond
memories that I forever cherish, while growing
up on Long Island and visiting the city by train
on the weekends.
I think I was about 8 when my beloved Grandmother
took me to Radio City Music Hall for the first time,
to see the Christmas show, with the infamous Rockettes.
WOW what a lasting impression that left
on me...(Ok so I am of the Ellen, Melissa, & KD
persuasion...got my toaster oven many years ago..lol)
Another special moment that is etched in my
memory, seeing a Broadway show...with Carol Channing
no less...in Hello Dolly. How much better can it get!
The group I was with were fortunate enough to
be chosen to stay after the show was over, to talk
with the lovely Ms. Channing for what seemed like hours,
but in actuality was about 10 minutes or so. What
a wonderful experience that was.
The best memories I have though, are those of
the hot pretzels...How could anyone pass those up?!
And OH, the tears that fall from my eyes so
freely, when I see my Majestic Skyline...there just
aren't enough words in any language to sum up
the emotion that runs so deep within me
when it comes to my beloved New York!
You will notice the beauty of it in the photo below.
I found this photo at a really nice NY web site and
hope that they won't mind me sharing the beauty
in it to all my visitors. But please click on the
photo to be whisked away to their
website...www.nyctourist.com. If you love New York
as much as I do, or are planning a trip there,
you will find much information at www.nyctourist.com.
There is so much more I can say, and in
time I will. Afterall, when was the last time
you met a 'Quiet' New Yorker...<wink>.
So please, check back often, as I will be
attempting to add and update my site with as
much babbling as I can. I will also be updating
on my job endeavors, as I am sending out my
resume and also have it on my site for all
future employers to find me....damn it...lol.
So look around and enjoy your trip to my city that
never sleeps and my site that never shuts up!
Best to All,
MaryAnn
