Disappointment
by David McCoy
It's been a dreary day,
I've been moping about the halls,
and sleeping through
class.
The bell rings,
third hour is over,
I go to my locker for more
books,
I spin my combo
and just as I pull the tab,
there he is, tall, perfect hair and a smile,
my kind of guy,
he looks so cool and sly,
and then
I catch his eye,
he looks me up and down, winks, and his smile widens,
I think
to myself, this is it!
I've
found a boyfriend!
A rush of adrenaline
my pulse soars,
I move towards him
eagerly awaiting what's to come,
Then
from behind me a swift breeze
and a
flash to my side,
before I even understand what's goin' on
a girl is in his harms,
he's straight.
So I
close my locker
and walk
away
alone,
But I look back hoping maybe,
he'll be looking at me over her
shoulder,
once again my dream does not
come true.
This is all I know of love.
