Journals of a Gay Vegan: Poetry
Jacob's Meal

If a man is hungry, give him food.
If a man is thirsty, give him drink.
But if that man's your brother,
give him nothing,
make him beg.
Take what you can, while you can.
Get the birthright,
make him pay.

If a man is naked, give him clothes.
If a man is hurting, ease his pain.
But if that man's your brother,
give him nothing,
make him beg.
Steal what he has, call it your own.
And God will honor your sin
with blessings.

Is it just me or do some of the Old Testament stories seem odd. It doesn't seem fair that God blessed Jacob's decietful actions and condemned others. It doesn't ring true to me. Something's wrong. I don't understand it. So I continue to wrestle with questions of Biblical inspiration, and I continue to put those questions in poem form.
