Day 9Josh and Jake in front of the keep at Chateau d'Amboise in Amboise, France. King Charles VIII was born and raised here. After visiting Italy in 1492, he decided in enhance and enlarge the chateau. Unforunately, he hit his head on a low lintel while on his way to a tennis game in the moat. The chapel in the chateau is also the final resting place of Leonardo de Vinci. |
Day 10Josh and Jake riding the rails throughout France. Today, they travelled from Tours to Strasbourg. Here, they are depicted in the Gare de L'est station in Paris during a 50 minute layover. The T.G.V. (Train de Grand Vitesse), which literally translates as High Speed Train. The line they rode today has been clocked at speeds upwards of 515 km/h. |

Day 11
Josh and Jake in front of Notre Dame de Strasbourg at
night. Earlier in the day, they climbed 330 steps to the top of the
bell tower to get a great view of Strasbourg. Construction
began on this cathedral, the centerpiece of Strasbourg, in 1176.
Work continued until 1439, however, one spire is missing and thus, the
cathedral remains incomplete. |
Day 12
Josh
and Jake at Musee Unterlinden in Colmar, France. They are standing in front of
a portion of an altarpiece that is considered by
some to be the single greatest work of art...ever. The
altarpiece dates back to the 16th century when dramatic altarpieces were en
vogue in Alsace. |
