Using TMPGEnc with WS or FS Progressive.

Ok we know we have a Widescreen or Fullscreen Progressive Movie.

Load up the SVCD Calculator.

Now the average bitrate isn't always precise. I usually round it off, or if its a widescreen

I'll even add like 50. This tool is just a round about number.

Next Load Up TMPEnc.

1. Load the d2v file made from last step

2. Load the wav file made from last step.

3. Choose a detination of SVCD mpeg2 file.

4. Load my 2pass.mcf settings.

5. Hit configure

The above window should look exactly like the picture above, if not change it to match.

Hit the settings button next.

Place the average bitrate you got from the SVCD Calculator.

Maximum and Minimum should stay at 2500 and 1150.

Hit OK when finished.

Next go to the Advanced Tab in the MPEG configuration window. (below)

Your widow should look exactly like the above window.

If in the last step said Progressive then select Non-Interlaced.

If it was interlaced or flashed interlaced/progressive repeatedly. Select Interlaced

Place 4:3 or 16:9 NTSC from ASPECT RATIO from last step.

Check Crop and double click it, you will see a new window.

This is optional and you don't have to do this, but it will shave off about 3-6 hours on

your encode time. Move the back bars to cover up the black bars of the film. Make sure

all the masks are checked. This is so you wont have to encode the black bars through out

the whole movie.

Click OK, then OK again to get to the main window.

Now everything is set. You should be at the main window, click encode to start making

your SVCD movie.

The first 50% you will only notice a black screen (normal)

The second 50% you will see the frames being served.

Estimated time 24 hours for a p3 500mhz - 12 hours for a p4 1.4ghz.

(Varies on processor and length of movie)
