Chris KinnearCHRIS KINNEAR (Manager)
Chris was appointed manager in May 1996. His playing career began with West Ham United as an apprentice professional, before moving to Leyton Orient. He then joined the non-league circuit appearing with Wealdstone, Maidstone United, Barnet and Dagenham before joining Dover in 1985 as a player, but, he broke his leg which prevented further appearances. Appointed manager in November 1985, Chris took Dover from the foot of the Southern League to the G.M. Vauxhall Conference winning the Southern League, Southern Division Championship (1987/88), the Southern League Championship (1989/90, 1992/93), Premier Inter League Cup Winners (1990/91), Southern League Cup (1990/91) and Kent Senior Cup (1990/91).
Andy BlondrageANDY BLONDRAGE (Midfield) Appearances : 44 Goals : 2
Date of birth :9/4/65 Occupation : Docker
Experienced midfield player Andy was signed from Sittingbourne in March 1997, making his debut at home to Waterlooville. Due to injuries performed magnificently in the back four for most of his appearances. Previous clubs include Gravesend (twice), Ashford and Hastings.



Martin BuglioneMARTIN BUGLIONE (Forward) Appearances : 259 Goals : 146
Date of birth : 19/6/69 Occupation : Roofer
Rejoined the Club in July 1995 from rivals Sittingbourne. With Margate in 1992/93 scoring 50 goals before moving to St Johnstone for a Club record fee. Previous clubs include Enfield, Boreham Wood, Walthamstow Avenue, Dagenham and Welling United. Since his return Martin has figured prominently in the Southern Division's top goal scorer's charts - finishing top of the pile in 1995/96 and joint top last season.


Tony DixonTONY DIXON (Defender) Appearances : 125 Goals : 9
Date of birth : 17/3/61 Occupation : Production Manager
A vastly experienced central defender who came to the club from Dover Athletic at the start of the 1994/95 season. Previously with Erith & Belvedere, Gravesend & Northfleet and Tonbridge. Has won Southern League Championship medals whilst with Dover.





Bill EdwardsBILL EDWARDS (Defender) Appearances : 80 Goals : 1
Date of birth : 12/5/72 Occupation : Printer
Having spent his playing career in the London area, Bill signed in July 1996. Started with Fisher before appearing for Sutton United, Tooting & Mitcham United and Sutton once again. Fills a sweeper role in Margate's defensive system. Voted the Supporter's Player of the Year and the Player's Player of the Year last season.




Karl EmerickKARL EMERICK (Defender)
Appearances : 99 Goals : 1 Date of birth : 18/8/76 Occupation : Bar Manager
Central defender signed in August 1995 after being released by Gillingham in the close season. Has developed into a reliable and consistent central defender.






Phil HandfordPHIL HANDFORD (Midfield)
Appearances : 186 Goals : 2 Date of birth : 18/7/64 Occupation : Glass Technician
Signed in March 1993 from Erith & Belvedere, experienced player with Gillingham, Wimbledon and Crewe Alexandra. Has also appeared for G.M.V.C. sides Maidstone United and Welling United before Sittingbourne paid �15,000 for him in the 1991/92 season. Undoubtedly the engine room of the side he was missed for a good proportion of last season through a knee injury.


Mark Harrop MARK HARROP (Defender) Appearances : 222 Goals : 12
Date of birth : 2/5/62 Occupation : Civil Servant
Highly experienced defender signed from Gravesend & Northfleet in August 1996, teaming up with manager Chris Kinnear for the second time having been at Dover Athletic previously where he won a League Championship medal. Other clubs include Ramsgate, Margate/Thanet, Folkestone and Canterbury City.



Paul LambPAUL LAMB (Defender)
Appearances : 23 Goals : 0 Date of birth : 19/4/73 Occupation : Student
Paul rejoined in July 1997 after a long period with Gravesend & Northfleet. Originally with Ramsgate, Dartford, Margate and Ramsgate again, he is another local lad who has returned 'home'. A highly experienced defender, who together with Mark Harrop and Mark Munday figured in Gravesend's F.A. Cup tie against Aston Villa.



John MageeJOHN MAGEE (Forward) Appearances : 8 Goals : 6
Date of birth : ?/?/72 Occupation : Student
Former Northern Ireland Under 21 international, John has also appeared in European Cup Winners Cup ties for Bangor City, in 1993 and 1994. Gained experience with Kettering Town and Burton Albion before joining St Leonards Stamcroft in the summer of 1996, where he scored 39 goals in just 57 appearances. Signed for Margate in December 1997 for a record fee, making his debut at Weymouth.



Eliot MartinELIOT MARTIN (Defender) Appearances : 102 Goals : 4
Date of birth : 27/9/72 Occupation : Printer
After a spell on loan earlier in the season Eliot joined the Club in November 1995 from Gillingham, but on his debut suffered a serious knee injury which kept him out of action for some time. Has proved to be the most improved player of the squad having been converted from full back to midfield.



Mark MundayMARK MUNDAY (Forward) Appearances : 33 Goals : 12
Date of birth : 17/2/71 Occupation : Insurance Broker
Thanet resident who joined from Gravesend & Northfleet in July 1997. Originally with Margate before moving to Winstonlead side Herne Bay where he proved to be a prolific midfield goal scorer, before moving onto Gravesend.




Iain O'ConnellIAIN O'CONNELL (Defender) Appearances : 23 Goals : 4
Date of birth : 9/10/70 Occupation : Student
Highly experienced player capable of playing in virtually any position. Joins up with Tony Dixon who he appeared alongside at Dover in both the Premier Division and Conference. Signed from Dover in August 1997 for a four figure fee. Started his career with Football League side, Southend United.



Paul PilkingtonPAUL PILKINGTON (Defender) Appearances : 60 Goals : 7
Date of birth : 7/11/71 Occupation : Driver
Previously on loan from Dover Athletic, where he was a first choice left back until manager Peter Taylor left, Paul signed for the club in January 1997. Originally with Southend United. Fast and skilful when he links with the attack and tenacious in his defence.



Lee SpillerLEE SPILLER (Midfield) Appearances : 58 Goals : 6
Date of birth : 30/6/78 Occupation : Bricklayer
Youngster signed from Gravesend & Northfleet in November 1996. Originally with Gillingham where he appeared for the first team. Can play either in midfield or attack. Rated highly by the manager and has proved to be a fine passer of the ball, even when under pressure.



Paul SykesPAUL SYKES (Forward) Appearances : 74 Goals : 40
Date of birth : 8/11/76 Occupation : Warehouse Operative
Originally a Gillingham apprentice, Paul spent the 1995/96 season with Conference side Welling United. Signed in August 1996. Excellent header of the ball, which belies his height. Has formed an outstanding partnership with Martin Buglione which produced 47 goals last season.



Lee TurnerLEE TURNER (Goalkeeper) Appearances : 54 Goals : 0
Date of birth : 4/3/65 Occupation : Steel Erector
Signed from Premier Division Gravesend & Northfleet in January 1997 making his debut against Weymouth at the Wessex Stadium. Previous clubs include Leyton Orient, Corinthian, Sittingbourne and Bury Town. Has proved to be one of the most consistent in the division.



Danny WilsonDANNY WILSON (Midfield) Appearances : 8 Goals : 1
Date of birth : Occupation : Student
Exciting youngster who started his career in the Winstonlead Kent League with Cray Wanderers, before putting in some impressive performances for Canterbury City. Chris Kinnear's first signing in July 1996 fulfilling a midfield role, unfortunately suffering a serious injury just weeks into the season and missing from the squad from September onwards.


Peter SykesPETER SYKES (Midfield) Appearances : 1 Goals : 0
Date of birth : Occupation : Student
Younger brother of Paul, Peter joined from Dover during the close season. Yet another fine prospect who featured in the pre-season friendlies and excelled. Made his league debut at home to Baldock. Unfortunately sidelined with a broken leg during a reserve match at Herne Bay.



David CoryDAVID CORY (Forward) Appearances : 1 Goals : 0
Date of birth : Occupation : Student
David made his first team debut in against Tonbridge Angels in a Dr Martens League Cup tie. He is a 17 year-old Student who has risen through the youth set-up. Has impressed several league clubs, which has earned invitations for trials.
