BRONCOS/COCA-COLA CHALLENGES

Key features of the challenges:
regionally based, with the individual needs of the schools
within the region determining the structure of the competition;
all schools, not just those who reached the
final stages, benefited from subsidies available;
where possible games were organised between the various regional
winners as curtain-raisers to Broncos’ matches at ANZ Stadium.

CENTRAL QUEENSLAND
This Rockhampton/Gladstone-based competition was expanded to include schools in
Biloela/Moura/Monto, with the finals held on a well-organised night at Biloela.

SOUTHERN DOWNS
This competition involved two rugby league teams
and three netball teams from each school.
It was the first in which girls’ sport has been included
under the banner of Broncos/Coca-Cola.

Rugby league - Warwick 12 d Goondiwindi 0

SUNSHINE COAST
The thirteen nominating schools were divided into three pools: Northern,
Southern, Small Schools. The grand finals were played on 7 September.
