Wynnum Opens Day 2:
Northern vs South Coast

After scoring a convincing 40-16 win over Wide Bay in their opening match at the Wynnum Opens in May, Northern Region defeated South Coast 12-10 on the second day. They had another tight victory the next day against Metro North (14-12) to earn a place in the major final against defending champions Peninsula. The two preceding tough matches stood them in good stead, and Tony Tarnawski's Townsville boys beat Peninsula 32-12 to claim the trophy.
