World Club Cup - Brazil 2000

15.06.2001: The cup has been cancelled due to financial difficulties, the cup will be delayed to next year (2002).

06.03.2001: 3 groups have been drawn, in group A, Boca Juniors, La Coruna, Wollongong, Zamalek, in group B, Palmeiras, Olimpia, Galatasaray, Al-Hilal and in Group C, Real Madrid, Iwata, Hearts of Oak and Los Angles.
The winners og each group and the best number 2 will go to the Semifinals (game 1 - winner A vs winner B and game 2 - winner C against best number 2). First match will be played on the 28.07.2001 between Coruna and Boca Juniors with the final being played on the 12.08.2001

* La Coruna (Spain) - Primera Liga winners 2000 (for host nation only)
* Palmeiras (Brazil) - Libertadores winners 1999
* Galatasaray (Turkey) - Uefa Cup winners 2000
* Boca Juniors (Argentina) - Libertadores winners 2000
* Jubilo Iwata (Japan) - Asia Supercopa winners 1999
* Al Hilal (Arabia) - Asia Supercopa winners 2000
* Hearts of Oak (Ghana) - African champions 2000
* Zamalek (Egypt) - African Cup winners 2000
* L.A. Galaxy (US) - Concacaf winners 2000
* Olimpia (Honduras) - Concacaf runners-up 2000
* Wollongong (Australia) - Oceanian Champions winners 2000

23.01.2001: Wollongong of Australia is the last team to qualify for the tournament, final decision if they will also become the last team to enter the competition of 12 teams will be made on 31th of January. Wollongong Wolves Football Club is based in a city with the same name, Wollongong 30-40 minutes south of Sydney. Wollongong are the Australina champions of 2000 and beat Vanuatu of Papua New Guinea 1 - 0 in the final of the Ocean championship.

23.01.2001: Officials in Spain are still hopeing to increase the teams in the competitions to 16 teams, final decision on the teams that will participate will be made on the 31 of January 2001.
