"Bitter Pill"
Rejection is
A bitter pill
That goes
Down smooth
With blood.

"First Kiss & Last Scream"
From first kiss to last scream,
My girl and I shared everything.

"LIED vs. LIED"
You told me it would last forever.
You told me I was the one.

     YOU LIED.
     YOU LIED.

You told me I was special.
You told me I was your future.

     YOU LIED.
     YOU LIED.

You told me you had no secrets.
You told me you had no past.

     YOU LIED.
     YOU LIED.

You told me it didn't matter.
You told me he was just a friend.

     YOU LIED.
     YOU LIED.

I told you I'd be forgiving.
I told you I'd let you live.

     I LIED.
     I LIED.

"Just Good Friends"
I pined for Lisa for many a month.
Lisa said: "We're just good friends."

I offered Lisa the best of my heart.
Lisa said: "We're just good friends."

I helped Lisa through thick and thin.
Lisa said: "We're just good friends."

I needed Lisa and she wasn't around.
Lisa said: "We're just good friends."

I thought of Lisa as I swallowed the gun.
Lisa said: "We're just good friends."

"A LITTLE NIP AND TUCK"
"I have a beautiful body!"
Is what she would snap.

     Whenever I hinted
     That she was fat.

"You don't really love me!"
Is what she would yell.

     Whenever I questioned
     That noticeable swell.

"You have flaws, too!"
She would always point out.

     Whenever I whispered
     She resembled a house.

"There's more woman to love!"
She would frequently jest.

     Whenever I gasped
Beneath the weight of her chest.

"Put down that knife!"
Is the last thing she screamed.

When I slit open her belly
     And pulled out her things.

"Love is blind."
Was my thoughtful reply.

When I put her in the oven
     And set it on high.

"You are what you eat."
Is what I had thought.

     When I loved my wife
Down to her very last drop.

"EMPTY"
I walk down these dirty streets.
Alone.
With only blackness in my heart.
As company.

There are moments when it brings.
Pain.
This sharp feeling.
Deep.
Inside.

I gaze upon smiles.
And.
Experience nothing.
But anguish.

I seem defined.
By others.
As a complete nothing.

So.
It must be.
My fate.
In life.
To feel.

Empty.

"SUNKEN EYES"
No sleep.
No rest.

Nightmares haunt
My
Every waking moment.

Tossing and turning
Beneath
The burden of sin.

There is no peace
For the unrighteous
At night.

Only

Sunken Eyes.

"IT WASN'T ENOUGH"
I killed that boy
For a handful of change.

It wasn't enough.

"10TH & VINE"
Man on the corner,
begging for a dime.

Woman on the street,
trading love for wine.

Kid in the gutter,
coming down on shine.

Preacher on a pulpit,
praying for a sign.

Dog in the dumpster,
sniffing for some swine.

Bum saws at his wrist,
coming to the end of the line.

Futures lost and found,
right here on 10TH & Vine.

"20/20"
Eyes of the soul

Full of pleading
Pricked and bleeding

Gouged and twisted
To and fro

I press hard
Out they go

Like grapes off the vine
I suck them down.

Twin hollows of the skull
Slide down my throat
