Tomoe Yukishiro
Alias:
Neesan (by Enishi).
Looks:
My older brother tends to think that she looks
suspiciously like Kaoru sometimes. A grown up one,
he means. I'm convinced of the fact that she looks
like a female Hiko (it's the hairstyle!! *lol*) .
Even if not. she's a very pretty woman, and I love
her fashion sense. Her appearance are usually
preceded by the sweet smell of white plum scent.
Tomoe is seldom seen smiling, always with a sweetly
sad expression on her beautiful face.
Brains:
Her mind seemed to work fairly good as she's quite
capable of the tasks she's given, either it's
Katsura-san or the Battousai's enemies. No Kasumi
Tendo (sorry Kasumi fans), as when she thinks
something doesn't go along, she'll try at least to
find the way to rebel against it.
Personality:
Some say she's apathic and boring, but I must
disagree. I think Tomoe was done mostly following
the pattern of the stereotype of the Japanese ideal
woman of them, mostly sweet and kind, doing
everything she's told to do. As quoted, however,
Tomoe will fight to defend her ideals and happiness,
when it's needed.
Cooking
- Home Economics:
It was pretty good for Kenshin and herself, she
learned to keep up with the kitchen even while they
were a little off the hog. The mistress of the hotel
in Kyoto (what was her name?) found no better
assistant than Tomoe, even when she said at first
"a stray home cat", seeing her fine hands
not callused by work.
Fighting
skills:
Though Tomoe hates violence, the tanto thingie
wasn't for anything. If I'm not wrong, Japanese
girls were given a tanto (dagger) when leaving home,
for two reasons: to commit harakiri if their honor
was stained, and defend themselves in a pinch. So it
suggests that Tomoe knew how to properly use it,
though disgrace was in the way.
Special
abilities:
Faithful and loving as sister, lover and wife, even
beyond death. The reason to live for Kenshin and
Enishi, too bad the latter misunderstood her for so
many years.
Competition:
Kiyosato Akira, Himura Kenshin. Kiyosato was her
childhood sweetheart and fiancé until Kenshin
killed him, and as the people said, "The
memories of the lover may be tougher to beat, than
lover himself". It was for him that Tomoe
involucrated herself in the plot against Kenshin,
who ended up becoming her husband and the second
love of her life, to the point of changing her POV
completely. One is dead and will always be present
in her dearest memories, the other is gonna be
dangerous if her happiness is in danger.
In-Laws:
I haven't seen the manga parts where her parents
appear (I've seen only the anime, both TV series and
OAV), so I'll center myself on her younger brother.
Enishi. This man really need to learn what the word
"incest" mean, in some opinion. His minor
obsession is to make sure his sister's happy at ANY
costs, thus turning him in a maniac with bloodthirst
against Kenshin and everyone he considered the ones
to blame for Tomoe's death. If he hears the
slightest rumor that his sister's being not well
treated, you're dead. Literally.
Finances:
Tomoe is not greedy nor selfish so she's gonna be
happy to help you out in your businesses or staying
at home taking care of you and the children. She
will work as hard as you whenever you need it,
possibly at a restaurant or cleaning service.
Sex:
Yup, yup, as a wife, Tomoe will make her best to
give you happiness. So be ready to give her a good
time as well. At least Kenshin was.
Overall:
Tomoe, presuming she's alive, will be much an ideal
type of woman, while you don't mind the psycho
katana-wielder boy of the family being present and
dropping more than once in a while just to see if
Neesan's okay. If you do, however, think twice, or
more.
