"Bits and Pieces"

Wednesday was the first official whole day of Summer. Let the fun begin! Let's see... what happened today. I note that Prince William (who seems to look better than his father) is turning 18... but he's not attending the royal party (estimated to cost about $150,000). Check out the connection below.

It may be Summer here on earth (well, at least in the Northern Hemisphere), but it looks like Springtime on Mars. Once again, check out my link at the bottom. But soon enough it will be those lazy, hazy, crazy days of Summer... come to think of it, it feels muggy already.

There are no Artistic birthdays this week on my Artist's Magazine calendar, but I thought that I would traipse on over to the Guggenheim Museum. Not in actuality, but in cyberspace. That is the beauty of things... you can hop on over to any major museum these days by use of the internet. All you need is the URL (or web page address).

I will be gathering together a list of cool sites this year featuring lots of museums and places. Eventually (you guessed it) I will set up an online gallery with an awesome links and reference page. But let's not forget the local spots. There are too many to mention, but this is the season to travel, so why not plan little "Day Excursions" to some of the closer places. When I lived in Oregon, there was this place called the Pioneer Museum. It wasn't a fine art museum (I had to wait to see one of those), but it did have displays of covered wagons and farm tools of yesteryear. It was quite neat. And when my Mom came over for a visit last year, we went to the Museum of Work and Culture ... right here in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. It features all you ever wanted to know about the Textile Industry that built this town a century ago. So get out there and explore! It's all waiting for you.

Have a wonder-filled week!

Poetry

It's Time

Is that the sun I see,
leaping through my window?
It's beautiful outside.

Time for a walk.

The clouds are gone
and the air is fresh.
It's really quite nice.

Time for a walk.

How long will it take
to make a decision
that will enrich my soul?

Time for a walk.

In a moment I grab
my socks and my shoes,
out the door because

Time for a walk.

JOKES?

It's a Guy thing.

(Only a mother of boys will truly appreciate this)

Ok, I'm the only female in a house full of guys. 4 sons and a hubby.  Toilet seat is never down...etc. Soooooooooo I'm the only one who would be using female products, correct? A strange thing was happening at my house. Tampons were disappearing.

---[ insert Twilight Zone theme ]---

Ok....A few months ago I went to my cupboard to get out a tampon and there was ONLY one left. I could have sworn I had just bought a box the month before. So, I go back to the store, buy a new box and forget about it. The next month (T.O.M) I go back to the cupboard.....and V0WALA... there is only ONE tampon left again. What's going on here? Gremlins??? I go to the store and buy another box, and forget about it.

WELL... I decided to clean out my two youngest sons closet and LOW and BEHOLD... at the bottom of their closet is the wrappers, applicators and the tampons themselves. I am starting to FREAK!!! Dear God, what are they doing with them??? I get a hold of myself .....and tell myself that "I am an Adult" and can handle this, despite the bizarre thoughts running through my mind. I'm thinking... "Do I have enough money saved up in the bank for MAJOR THERAPY?"

I go to the top of the stairs and yell for my two youngest sons to "COME HERE!!!"

They march up the stairs and find me in their room staring into the bottom of their closet. I said "What are you doing with THOSE? THOSE are MINE!" My 12 year old looks like a Deer caught in the headlights and is silent. My 10 year old looks at me all innocent and says, "Well, Mom, We were playing with our G.I. Joes and figurines... and THOSE make Really good S.C.U.D. missiles!! What do YOU use them for?"

NEVER MIND!! GO PLAY!!!!

thanks to a friend of a friend of a relative (N.T.)
