The Royal Islander Resort has a great view of the planes landing at the nearby Queen Julianna Airport, near Maho, on the Dutch side of the island. Many people actually lay on the nearby beach and photograph the jumbo jets as they land, which is extremely dangerous, since the backdraft from the jets can kick up rocks and sand and injure the unwary tourists.
