As You Were Dancing
As you were dancing with me
I got carried away.
You were holding my hand,
and smiling that way.
Your voice warm on my neck,
soft as the moonlight.
The feeling I get when
you hold me tight.
Emotions so elusive
how they work, no one knows.
Hoping you feel the same
as I hold you this close.
Pounding on my chest,
I heard your heartbeat.
Forgot we were dancing,
what to do with my feet?
Looking at me that way
melted both my knees.
Standing so near your face,
I swear we both felt free.
The music quieted down,
and I began to realize.
Wonder if you even knew
as you kissed me with your eyes.
You touched my face,
and I forgot about the cold.
Breath whispered on my cheek,
as your kiss touched my soul.
So I'm here asking you again,
to share with me this dance?
I need to hear it from you...
Will you give my love a chance?
