WEBSPACE

TopCities.com gives you a generous 150 megs of space, your own sub-domain, FTP, guest book, message board, form mail, and counter. What we really like is the space they give you. None of the other web hosts out there seem to be offering this much space. Another good thing is their online EZ-Upload utility. Using this applet, you can select an entire directory, click upload, and watch the progress indicator as all of your files are uploaded instantly. Also, as part of our assessment, we tested the network performance, and have found this site to be one of the fastest in terms of page loading.

A nice offering of 2 MB of space for anyone who understands Danish. They also provide a complete listing of their member sites so you can take a look to see what the Danish culture is all about.

They give you 2 megs of space. In the past when I've used this service, it was rather slow and not very intuitive. They are also rather restrictive in terms of content as they do not allow you to place your own banner ads. They also won't allow adult material or other offensive writing at their discretion.

This company provides you with 12 megs of space and some additional features such as guest book and message board. There's also a 24 hour support forum where you can ask questions about your site.

They provide you with 6 megs of space, online file manager, your own guest book, and your own message board. The service is quite fast and recommended.

Web Spawner provides you with templates to edit your own page. However, you are only allowed one page and must go through their online template manager. In the body of your page, you are allowed only 25k of space to write your content.

You are given 5 megs of space. Not much more is known about this site right now as it is upgrading its backend servers.

This site reminds me of the old Geocities, where you pick a theme/neighborhood, and then start creating your site. No FTP is allowed though, but the site looks promising.

They give you 20 megs of space in return for a pop-up ad on all your pages. They also host domain names and sub-domain names. They claim to have lots of other features as well, but I've signed up for an account, and the whole thing was like a maze for me. Things are a bit un-organized and it was hard for me to just set up a guest book.

This company gives your 25 megs of free space and gives you unlimited bandwidth. However, they do not allow you to download your files once you upload them. Their reasoning is: to prevent warez trading and piracy. This sounds rather restrictive and could mean lots of trouble if you lost some local files and would like to re-download them again.

Offers 10 mb of space to anyone who wants to build a web site. They offer an online file manager, guest book, and your own message board. Performance is above average and is recommended to everyone, especially girls (hint: web site name).

This WB-themed provider gives you 20 MB of space and access to many pictures of WB television shows for use in your web site. It is great for fan sites, but don't expect to make money through them, though... They don't allow you to have ad banners on your pages.

30 MB of space with no per-file size limit sounds quite attractive. Also provided with your free account are a personal guest book, message board, counter, and form mail. 11 MB of space, Ftp, online file manager, and other clip art goodies make this a worthy provider. They've been around for a while, and generate revenue with ad banners placed automatically near the top of your pages. Speed used to be a real problem with them, but recent performance has been much better.

These folks provide you with an unheard-of unlimited amount of space. This sounds too good to be true for some, but does appear to be real. However, there is skepticism because nothing in life every comes for free, but... If anyone has any input we'd appreciate it.

Netline gives you 10 MB of space in exchange for a logo display on all of your pages. Their server speed is quite fast and support seems to be pretty good.

A humorous-sounding theme for teens to vent their frustrations about school. Now of course your site can be used for any subject (except the usual pornography, harassment, etc...) but the domain name speaks for itself. 10 MB is what they provide.

They allow both for-profit and non-profit organizations/companies to open a 10 MB web site account in exchange for top-of-the-page banner ads. Their real business is in paid hosting, so if you want to test the waters and gradually migrate to such an account, this host is for you.

10 MB is what they give you. What's unique about this provider is the ability for you to create your own shopping cart. If you have something to sell online and don't want to spend any money with top-notch hosting, this host is for you. A word of caution though: If you are serious about doing e-commerce online, it's better to go with a paid host.

A Chinese-based web provider, this site gives you 10 MB of space along with your very own email account and online file manager in return for banner ads on your pages. There are broken links on their site, so be careful.

A user-friendly file manager and a humous domain name says it all. 10 MB, free support, and a guest book are what you get with Duno. Server speed is abover average.

15 MB of space, the promise of FTP access, and your own free e-mail address is what you will get with this provider. They also provide an online library of images for you to use on your pages. Note: Your site must become active within 30 days of sign-up or they will delete your account.

This site offers 25 MB of space and an online editor. They also place an ad at the top of all member pages to help pay for their overhead costs. There have been a few complaints though, about cgi errors.

A nicely-designed site, these folks give you 5 MB of space and a browser uploading utility for all your file management. Ads are automatically placed in your pages. The drawback, however, is that you are not allowed to place ad banners of your own.

Conk has recently increased their free web space from 1 to 5 MB. You are also no longer required to place their ads on your pages. However, their sign-up pages are currently offline for some reason, but we expect them to be up-and-running shortly.

Here is a top-notch free personal home page provider. They give you 15 megs of space. There's also an online html editor for beginners and a bunch of drag-and-drop goodies, such as counters, guest books, message boards, polls, etc... This is by far the best host for beginners and intermediate users who want to get right down to content rather than hardcore html coding. For advanced users, there is also direct ftp, so it's for everyone.

A multilingual community, Vavo promises you with unlimited space, guest book, chat, and message board. They also have tons of clipart, including photographs, cartoons, and icons for you to use in your pages. This host is great for beginners who aren't ready to go knee-deep in html authoring. For the advanced user, however, it is a bit less useful as direct uploading of files via ftp isn't supported.

A free host whos main strength is in the generous 50 MB of space offered. It's main weaknesses are the lack of a good online site-building tool and the long url imposed on you: egao.com/neighborhood/username

Graffiti
A good 25 MB of space is what you'll get with Graffiti.net. All uploading is done via ftp and you also get to have your own mailing list, message board, and email. There's only one drawback, their logon system. We've had much trouble logging on at times, which made us angry and frustrated.

This host offers you the most basic of free space: ftp. There are no online file managers nor site building editors. Also, your address contains the much-dreaded "~" character. This might be quite acceptable to experienced webmasters, however.
