Fiber content is 100% natural prime quality angora rabbit, very long fibers the angora rabbit naturally molts evey 90 - 100 days.
The fibers are from our own bunnies we breed in a cool lust rainy valley located besides the southern Andes Mountains of Chile.
Angora fibers from the rabbit are clean and do not require washing, picking, combing, or carding before hand spinning. Thus they are not damaged as when commercial yarn is produced.
Angora rabbit wool is the lightest natural fiber known.
Seven times warmer than sheep's wool. The hollow structure of its fibres makes it ideal for thermal clothing.
Luxurious.
Very durable.
Hand-washable.
Not irritating to the skin like sheep's wool.
Easy to dye.
Blends extremely well with other fibers.
End Uses:
Angora is ideal for making baby garments, winter underwear, sweaters, hats, scarves, and mittens.
Hand spun tightly, in two-ply threads
Approximatly 70 yds. per ball of 50 grams (finer yarn for weavers available upon request)
Suggested gauge is 9 sts.= 2" on size 7 needles for a thick fur looking 2" pile.
Well... you can serve store–brand bread, bakery bread, or homemade bread fresh out of the oven. Likewise, you can knit with commercially spun yarns, more specialized mill spun yarn, or handspun yarn. All of these have their right place, but given a choice, you know which delights the palate!
If you have never knit with handspun yarn, you need to try some and expect a real treat.
What is the difference between handspun and commercially spun yarn?
Handspun yarn flows through your hands and feels alive. The warmth and ability to breathe inherent in natural fibers that are not machine spun, becomes apparent with the first stitch, and you know the finished garment will be cherished for generations.
Handspun is like fine, aged wine from the winemaker's reserve, an original oil painting, a bouquet of fresh flowers. It's just sumptuous! Once you use handspun, you will want only to use materials produced with the same care and creative energy that you use in your knitting.
Add something special to your next project.
Or knit weave or crochet a scarf, mittens or socks with this pure luxury warm delight!
You can even spoil yourself... with the sensuous feel of a 100% angora sweater. A true experience...
Beautiful soft yarn in natural white color!
Or dyed in the following colors: ( clik here to see pictures)
taupe, fawn-camel, burgundy, royal-blue, lila, rose stem, pink, oyster, grey or black
Nature provides the Angora Rabbit with a coat that sheds or molts periodically. This coat is easily removed by plucking when "ripe", with no damage to the rabbit, or may be sheared with electric clippers, or clipped with scissors. Unlike commercial angora we use only plucked angora which ensures that the length of the angora fiber is significant enough to stay part of the yarn and not shed. We also spinn it fine with high twist to eliminate shedding, and for a terrific fur looking!
Knitting, Weaving or Crocheting Angora Yarn is easy, as the nap doesn't appear until after the finished project is handled. Angora has all the qualities one could ask for. It is soft, strong, durable, comes in a large variety of colors, is lightweight, makes a fine yarn, takes dye readily, and has a natural downy nap.
Angora Rabbit Wool is softer, finer, and seven times warmer than sheep's wool. A natural fiber, it breathes, allowing body moisture to escape, keeping the wearer dry, as well as warm. It is ideal for baby garments, winter underwear, sweaters, hats, scarves, and mittens. Many people who find sheep's wool too irritable and scratchy, find Angora wool a beautiful alternative for warmth and comfort. Clothing articles made from Angora Wool are very durable and may be easily washed by hand in warm water with a mild soap and air dried.
